Wouldn't it be easier to just have a burger occasionally? And to those who would say it's all about ethics and the ethical treatment of animals, I assume you have never owned anything leather in your lives?

I admire people who stand up for what they think is wrong but if it has only to do for health reasons shouldn't a diet that offers healthy veggies and meats be considered? The mediterranean diet offers the best of both worlds. Why does all meat get a bad rap from vegetarians?

Omega-3 fatty acids reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Why do vegetarians attack with this meat kills nonsense?

Turkey - Is one of the leanest meats and good source of protein. Turkey is Rich in B vitamins and zinc and a great source of tryptophan a brain boosting nutrient. Like chicken it's a very healthy meat

People post about animals..... but how can you have an animal if it is just like enslaving them from their natural habitat.
Seriously, all jokes aside..... how does this work?
See, you all knew that if I got in here long enough poking fun that my mind would start pondering.
I have three cats and two wonderful shar-pei dogs and I love them dearly, but I wonder how it works in a vegan belief to tame an animal..... while it's not mistreating them per se..... that arguement could be made....
thoughts?

I am very new to the veggie/vegan diet. To clarify. I eat vegan when I can and veggie when i must. My question is why am i so hungry all the time? Am I missing something in my diet (besides meat, for my friend John Q:-) that I need there to help me feel full. I did not pig out when i was a meat eater. Also, I always have healthy snacks on hand that i do eat. Carrot sticks, soy yogurt, fresh fruit salad, Green Tea.

Thanks for the help.
Hugs, Kuka

...OR is it the other way around? By supporting the major corporations' attempts to promote vegetarianism are we therefore bringing vegetarianism into the mainstream?

I am debating this one. Usually, I avoid anything that is made by ConAgra (and it is a lot!!!), but I have never thought about it from this different perspective. What is your take on it?

I thought I'd poll here as to choosing a dot com name for a vegan website I'm developing. I don't want something to trendy, to fundamental or to active.

Something that's appealing to everyone and won't scare off omnivores. As an example:
You know how it is, many companies that are accidentally vegetarian/vegan don't label their products as such..because many omnivores won't buy a product if they see this - thinking its inferior. so...

In the same mindset I don't want to repel omnivores. I've learned lately that it's never too early to start trying to reach out in a big way and certain interactions recently showed me how much people need to be educated flat out..vegan lifestyle could be of course a healthy start and successful plan for a long life.

As well if anyone has further ideas for this site either post them here, e-mail me or IM them to me. Also if anyone has any programming or design experience, IT experience or hobby experience and wants to help - I'm open to proposals :D

I am honestly curious, please tell me why a vegan or raw vegan diet offers more protein than consuming fish and/or beef, pork, chicken, etc (and no other reasons about veggie vs. meat!). I am yet to be convinced.

A lot of people don't eat meat because they know it is killing the animal. But at the same time many are pro-choice.
How can you be both?
I am pro-life, vegetarian.

I work with this lady that won't shut up about her daughter being a vegetarian and thinks it's "so cool" how she came to her and asked if she could be one. Only problem is, she keeps slipping in comments about her eating meat (only fish and chicken she says).
So I say, "If she eats meat, she's not a vegetarian." She replies, "No, if she eats meat, she's not a VEGAN."
I know that some vegetarians eat milk and eggs. . . . but MEAT???? Doesn't this defeat the purpose, even if it is just fish and chicken.?

This is driving me crazy because she treats me like an idiot when I say she's not a vegetarian if she eats meat. I can't stand it. Someone set me straight here.
