I don't know if I should just try quitting eating meat "cold turkey" no pun intended or how I should go about doing it. I tried becoming a vegetarian about a year ago, but I only lasted less than one month and then I caved in and went and bought a quarter pounder with cheese at McDonalds. Reason I wanna become a vegetarian is for health reasons (I've have digestive issues for about 7 years now and think becoming a vegetarian might help). Can anyone offer some helpful advice on how to become a vegetarian and how to be able to stay that way for life?

I used to be anorexic. I stress the word used. I no longer feel the effects of that state of mind and I am back to my old healthy weight. My parents do not see this. To them, I will never gain enough weight. I cannot keep pleasing them, though. I know I am healthy in mind and body. I can feel the difference and I cannot believe how much happier I am.

Recently, I made the desicion to be a vegetarian. I have wanted to do this years before my eating disorder but the problem is my parents. I have not told them about this perosnal desicion. They grew up in families that were strong meat eaters and every meal involves meat. I do not want to upset them, but I would like their support. What should I do?

Any advise and/or concerns are welcome.

I have a problem with the whole "meat eaters are killers" thing. Do you eat your corn or beans while they are still alive? They have to die for you to eat. Is the life of a cow more important or is taking a life the same either way? Also whats up with using only wool from happy sheep? Think that cotton is pure? Have you ever watched crop dusters spray cotton with poison to kill it so that it can be picked? I know that my arguments sound stupid but no more so than yours. What is good for one should be good for all, it should not matter if they are made of plant or meat something will always have to die to feed us. I do not care what you do with your life but dont look down on me for living my life the way I want.

I read a lot of questions from people who have a hard time finding vegetarian and vegan options in grocery stores and restaurants, so I'll ask you, how vegetarian friendly is your city?

Mine is pretty accomodating. I gained some weight when I first moved here because there were so many vegan goodies and I wanted to try them all!

i am not a vegetarian/vegan myself, though i always wonder why you guys do it. is it health, environmental or pro-animal rights? do you also not own leather and fur? finally, do you try to "convert" others to be veggie/vegan as well?
please be as specific as you'd like.

I feed my 11mo old son tofu mixed in with fruit and oatmeal almost every morning. I have heard a rumor that soy releases estrogen. Is this true? Are there any other negatives to feeding a baby tofu? I want to make sure my son gets his protein. He does eat chicken and some beef, but doesn't always want to eat those things. He eats tofu really well.
