It seems like all vegetarians are limosene liberals who drive japanese cars and are insane like Al Gore or Al Sharpton.

As a new vegetarian I am trying to embrace a totally healthy lifestyle. My problem is I'm trying to wean myself off of white sugar and eventually all sugars that are not in foods naturally. I'm doing fairly well, but as a former addict (to sugar) I still crave some sweetness. I really like splenda. Iis it the "best"?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make a good vegetarian gravy? I love mash potatoes with gravy but the gravy always has some kind of meat in it. Thanks!

Last week after a lot of recearch I decided that I wanted to become a vegetarian. I knew that my family would not take my decision seriously so this past week i've kept it a secret. Saturday we were having a barbeque with no vegetarian options so I had to tell them. Like I guessed they took it as a joke and claimed that i'm just trying to be a pain in the a*s. My dad is now trying to get me to crack ny making all my favorite meat foods. Today he made eggs benedict which we normally only have once or twice a year on special occasions. He refuses to make me veggie dishes and wont buy me things I need to make them myself. I don't know what to do I really want to stay a vegetarian but with so little support I don't know if i'll be able to keep this lifestyle. What can I do to get my family to take me seriously and provide me with the support I need to make this work.

There must 10's of millions of cows, sheep, chickens etc in the UK alone. What would happen if we all went Vegan? Would we have to slaughter them en masse? And how would we control the ones we left behind? Would we have to introduce natural predators into the UK like wolfs or just have annual culls to stop the population getting out of control? If left alone they would surely over run the now much needed vegatable crops?

In the past weeks I've gone against my own advice a lot.

Unfortunately instead of focusing on new comers here that are reaching out for help I focused anger and spent too much time defending myself and others against people who have no interest in learning about nutrition, diet & our country's inhumane practices.

In fact they'd wish you to believe they are trying to prove you wrong, but instead they are actually only working to reinforce and prove themselves right. One coward in particular who let it be known is originally al_sparagus, then following vegan_soldier, Fundiefckr, endive1976, endive1977, & his most recent manifestation Muscovichslov. Only such a coward would dedicate so much time to follow fantasy vendettas that he instigated & has no true backbone in life to show integral opposition..only defamatory nonsense.

It was only after GOD cast mankind out of the Garden of Eden that man began to eat meat.

This tells me that the human body was in fact perfectly designed TO DO WITHOUT MEAT.

What sayest thou ?

As vegetarians, we wish to know if we should be making extra efforts to check ingredients of breads in Norway (we'll be there in about a month) as to whether they contain animal fats.

I've been vegetarian for a month now and eat very healthy and work out 4 times a week. In the month before I decided to go vegetarian I only ate tuna about 3 times a week [it was the last thing i gave up] So I was wondering, has my body completely finished flushing out all the animal inside of me yet? Or does it take longer than a month?. I feel so much better now though, and lighter to carry myself, I feel so fresh and my skin feels and looks great times 10! Just wondering if my insides are as happy :) Lol.

THANKS!
Hope my question didn't confuse anyone >.<

I have to change my diet because of diabetes... and the different meds they put me on make me constantly hungry. I am eating cantaloupe, celery, lots of tomatos, lettuce, cukes, apples, mangos, pineapple. I do know fruits can be sneaky and put extra weight on you, so I mostly eat the veggies... say I was eating 3 tomatos a day, a cuke, half a canteloupe, and a mango, a cup and a half of cottage cheese, a turkey sandwhich... handful of nuts, a bowl of frosted miniwheats... will I gain or lose... thanks, for your help...ps..not all these foods are easy to find caloric counts on, and there are many different calculations, so I was hoping you have some experience with this. Thanks...

You cant just read a book about beaing a veggie and be healthy. It is shocking to see how few vegetarians actually know anything about their own body. How many of you have seen license medical professionals about your diet? details please, not vague responses about your vitamin profiles.

Also why do vegetarians insist on prefacing all their posts with "well, I have been a vegetarian for X years, so this is why X"?
