We are made up of food - as in..we rebuild ourselves daily with what we consume. We are essentially just a big tube... a worm if you will with arms. A complex worm, but a worm none the less. In and out. We just use a bit more nutrients and energy then a worm does because of all our body functions like advanced movement and thought processing. Food is the carrier of our energy and nutrients.

Just like gas is to an engine..food is to us. Although just like an engine, its only a processing station and many things can be put into it - add fuel corrupted by impurities or add something that isn't fuel at all and suffer the consequences.

"The living state is characterized by the flow of energy through the organism.

At the expense of this energy flow, the organism can maintain its intricate order and activity far removed from equilibrium with its surroundings, yet exist in a state of apparent constancy over time. This state of apparent constancy, or so-called steady-state, is actually a very dynamic condition: energy and material are consumed by the organism and used to maintain its stability and order. In contrast, inanimate matter, as exemplified by the universe in totality, is moving to a condition of increasing disorder or, in thermodynamic terms, maximum entropy. "

It can, and does. People develop illnesses all of the time that are directly related to food. Heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, fibromyalgia, high cholesterol, and most other illnesses can be linked to the toxic preservatives, chemicals, and toxins in food. We consume pesticide residues, genetically modified foods, steroid, antibiotic and growth hormones in milk and meats, and a host of other things that the human body does not know what to do with. We are designed to eat a natural diet, based on whole grains, vegetables, pulses, etc. We are not designed to eat things that have been spliced with the genes of other species, so that they are no longer a natural food. The amount of toxins in our food supply is shocking. Food kills everyday.

Yes, some food is dangerous.

Tomatoes: The fruit contain trace amounts of "Tomatine", a highly toxic substance. The leaves are full of it. They were used as a method of execution in medevial times.

Cucumbers: While not as toxic as Tomatine, Cucumberine can do a number on sensitive individuals. It is found in the edible part.

Rhubarb: Not sure of the exact name, but the leaves are toxic

Limes: Containe limonine, a highly damaging substance to skin. Fresh limes have the most of it, it is photoactive meaning it gets worse if you expose yourself to light. This is found in the skin of limes and other citrus fruit.

Peppers: Hot peppers contain Capascin, a chemical used in pepper spray.

Sure.

Ever see people w/ a peanut allergy go into anaphalactic shock? They can die from that. Food can kill.

Ever see those poor 800 lb. souls on Discovery Health who die at age 22 from a heart attck? Food kills.

Cerain flesh of the blowfish has neurotoxins in it, and can freeze up your breathing and heart. So you die.

Yep, food can kill.

In this world it is survival of the fittest. It's either kill or be eaten. Yes, food can kill. My botulism cutting board assures me of that fact.

directly and indirectly, my friend.
lots of people each year die of food born illness and choking.
also if you look at the heart disease rates and what everyone eats there is a coalition between the two. That and many, many other diseases.

Hope this helps
