Since it not only benefits the environment but much of our taxes are used for subsidies to the meat industry. I read once that if beef were not subsidized it would cost 30 dollars a pound. Is it really fair that those of us who don't eat it still have to pay for it?

I notice that if I drink my green juices real fast, I get kind of nauseated. Does anyone know what is happening to make me feel that way. I was told it has something to do with the blood sugar levels or something. I heard that other people feel that way also when drinking green juices real fast.

My green juice is wheatgrass juice that I juice myself.

Read the above..this is a local news story for me and I can't believe it. Cooking oil?

I'm not going to stereotype and say he did it because he's a meat eater. I will say though for !@#$ sure you'd never see a vegetarian or vegan doing this. Another cruel example of why the world would be better off if everyone were vegans.

A friend told me that I could get a good laugh in the vegetarian and vegan section.
Boy was he right.
Thank you Endive1977, you are hillarious. Then again I've always found the mentally deranged to be funny.

Thank you to the serious vegitarians and vegans, you've been able to explain alot about the choice to me. Though I am a "meat eater" and nothing here so far is going to change that, I do understand your lifestyle better. Thank you for that.

I had heard though a friend of mine that the 'natural flavors' in ketchup is really meat. I am a lacto-vegetarian and have been one since Jan 28, 2007 and I use katchup on certain foods. The question is, does ketchup really have meat in it and if it is, does it count as a meat product?

I want to hear from people who are vegan (and healthy!!) and yet don't use ANY soya at all, or any other "meat replacement" stuff. For me it's important that if I believe veganism is the proper way for humans to eat, then I shouldn't need a replacement for meat, or other animal products either (milk, for example)!! The problem I have with soya by the way is that I don't believe we are meant to eat it any more than we are meant to eat animals - there are too many health risks associated with consuming it. What are people's thoughts on this?

These are still innocent creatures, just like the millions of cows slaughtered each year for food, even though we can get everything we needs from fresh fruits and vegetables.

How can I explain to someone that they can not eat bivalves?

I just stopped eating meat two days ago. I really like protien shakes and bars but, is there any other way I can add protien to my diet. What about other nutrients that will be missing from the no-meat diet? Any other tips?

And if so, what did you do? I am scared of what my family will say about me becoming a vegetarian(my parents know, though)! I'm scared they'll laugh at me, and I'm shy,so that makes it hard for me too speak up. NO ONE in my family is vegetarian. What do I do?

I love Taco Bell for good vegetarian fast food, but lately they've been messing up a lot and putting meat in my 7 layer burritos and crunchwrap, which doesn't even make sense bc it's not a normal ingredient. It made me really sick and miss work. I tried calling and complaining, but never received a response.
The thing is that my husband has been veg much longer than I have and never has these incidents at any restaurant. I have them all the freaking time.
Do any of you have this problem? What do you do about it? Do you know of any natural thing I can take to lessen the illness afterward?

....shop at Wal*Mart and eat fries from fast food restaurants. Yes, I am an omnivore, but I don't eat meat everyday, I REFUSE to eat at fast food places and shop at Wal*mart, I buy my groceries from the local organic co-op, and I don't support any company that harms the planet, tests on animals or has any type of shady business practice.

Doesn't vegetarianism so hand in hand with these ideals? Shopping at Wal*mart isn't good for the planet, animals or your fellow humans!!!

Also, what are your reasons for being Vegetarian/Vegan if the reasons that I listed aren't?

Also, I'm not trying to be ignorant. Many of my friends are Vegetarians and I often eat vegetarian meals. I don't believe that eating a lot of meat is healthy or naturally sustainable. So, I'm not a troll!!!! Curious, that's all.
