This question (actually two questions one in the title and one in the description) is just a set up for a flaming but I will go ahead and answer this as I was raised in ranch lands and was a vegetarian for a few years of my life, but gave it up as it was not practical nor healthy for me.
1) I sleep fine at night, especially after a great steak diner.
2) I have no regrets about eating meat.
That said… I do have issues with the ways the meat industry (beef, pork, chicken ,turkey, whatever) has changed over the years in orders to streamline operations and remain competitive in the global sales place. The day of the family farm or ranch raising a good number of animals to make a living has been replaced by conglomerates that treat animals as a product. That is why I prefer to buy my meat from family ranchers that I know or if I must buy it in a grocery store then I buy free range or the equivalent.
I will give you a little hint in life... with your attitude you will not convince any number of people to the benefits of vegetarianism… instead you will probably do the opposite in your life and polarize anyone that was maybe even considering “cutting back on meat” to do the opposite and try a high protein / carb free diet. Something to think about on your future vendetta to ride the world of meat eaters…

Well, meat eaters don't really think of a dying and helpless animal when they eat it and go to sleep every night. I just think of it as something tasty to eat just like how vegetarians see their food as tasty too. I mean, I know it's part of a dead animal on my plate but I was raised eating meat and so it's just a natural thing that I don't think about. Plus meat is where heme iron comes from. Everyone needs iron in their diet and that's an easy way for people to get iron since many of us (especially Americans) don't consume enough vegetables everyday, many of which contain nonheme iron.
Plus, I doubt animals even realize they're gonna be slaughtered anyway, so it's kinda like if you died but you didn't see it coming and so by that, you had no worries.

I don't sleep at night, that is how I do it. Oh wait that is really my sleeping disorder.
Truthfully I don't enjoy it but I work hard to lessen my impact by consuming only my needs and not more and by not participating in unethical treatment of farm animals. I am not wise enough to say that plants, animals or minerals don't have life, feeling, minds or souls. I hope that I have done my best though.

Be very careful with what you put out for the world to see. You just announced that plants have no life. This statements indicates either a lack of basic intelligence or you have your own version of primary school science. Or maybe a defiance of what has accepted as truth by the rest of mankind.
Plants may not respond to the environment in the way you or I do but they do respond to environmental changes, grow and have been living on earth as long as we animals have. Evolving too. They require energy and nutrients to grow, reproduce and take great efforts to do all that to ensure survival of species. No different from man who claim to be superior.
Anyway plants are on a continuum, simple unicellular organisms at one end, complex multicellular organisms at the other. It's only towards the latter end that plants and animals are clearly differentiated. If you go backward along this continuum, the distinction blurs. I'm sure if you look at DNA you will find that you are distantly related to the plants you deem lifeless. Vegetarian or not you are killing life.

No offense, but... if vegetarians/ vegans that come on this board don't like when they are badgered for being vegetarians, than why are you egging them on?
Maybe this wasn't your intention, but it won't help any of us out, and all you will get is sarcastic responses.
I am a vegan, but I would certainly not go out into society, and say something like that. People will get offensive over this subject, if they find no harm in eating meat. I say live, and let live.
If you're a vegan/vegetarian, than you know what it's like for people to stomp all over your lifestyle, so... why stomp over theirs?

i think of i'm a Vegan with the aid of fact i'm a sadist and want to take heed to Vegetable scream in discomfort. (nicely .... an ulterior reason is via the fact I heard George Bush hates ingesting Broccoli, i think which would be explanation why he make those humorous comments. subsequently, as a fashion to no longer be a clown, I ought to consume Broccoli.)

When you ask a question like this, always be prepared for some genius reply like "I dont force my beliefs on others". What does that really mean? If we cant say that killing animals is wrong, we also shouldnt be able to say that racism, sexism and homophobia are wrong. If I see something wrong I will stand up and say it. For ppl who are sensitive to "different" opinions, (even if we only promote equality- which has been done before in history) stay away from vegans! If you eat meat, and brag about it, you're begging for criticism.

How do you know that plants have no emotions? Just because you can't feel their emotions, it doesn't meant they can't feel. Sir J.C.Bose and a few more scientists showed clearly that plants have emotions and react to our own emotions towards them.
Read the relevent portion in "Autobiography of an Yogi" by Paramahamsa Yogananda where he describes the experiments conducted by an american scientist.
I think we vegetarians should stop asking such questions. Yes, I am born and brought up as a vegetarian and by choice too I prefer to minimise the cruelty to any fellow creature or creation (plants).

Im not a meat eater, Im a vegan so I sleep fine at nite :)
Though I wish you would have posted this in another section, because these responses are giving me a headache!
dont let them get on you about plants feeling pain, or relating them to animals in any way. Its just a tactic some like to use, even though they know the absurdity of comparing the two.
