Flash boil the Asparagus....Drop them into boiling water, quickly remove and put in a bowl of ice and cold water. Remove and pat dry with paper towels, then freeze in an airtight container (Freezer Bag).

Love it and after years of trying it out in all aspects---clean, chop up fresh, put in a carton full of water and freeze. It will freezer burn really fast. I have blanched and done the ice dance and then frozen and it is no better than doing it fresh in water. I have also taken it fresh, not washed or anything and double wrapped in foil and frozen, once it is half thawed clean off trim tough stems and cook.

If you blanch the asparagus in hot water for a few minutes, it will freeze well. Just freezing it fresh with cause it to go mushy. You could also make a puree with it, then freeze that in an ice cube tray, when its frozen solid, store in a zipper bag-add a cube or two to gravies, stews, etc for extra richness and flavor.
