I read somewhere once that it's normal to pass gas up to 20 times a day. Over that, and there's a possibility you have some sort of food allergy or intolerance. I think a lot of people notice some gas when they're first switching over, but I was just in a convo tonight with 2 meat eaters who only have a poo every 5 days. I'd much rather fart than be constipated. Notorious gas causers are dairy, beans, cabbage, broccoli, and onions. Try adding them slowly to your diet so your body can get used to the added fiber. Most people adjust within a few weeks. Anyways, vegan farts don't smell bad like meat farts. I've never met a vegan who has experienced any sort of social difficulties because of this issue....

Who says vegetarian causes flatulence? I am a vegetarian by birth because my parents are too. If you have problems with vegetarian then you must be new to it or you are not taking a proper diet. Also chilled vegetables and fruits cause problems. Non-vegetarian foods contain cholesterol which causes heart strokes. On the whole vegetarian is good. If you are from a very cold country, all the fruits and vegetables which are good for health cannot be cultivated because of the climate. Hence you import them and in the process, they are preserved in ice and hence they lose the freshness and also most of the nutrients and taste. Hence they cause problems.

Flatulence can be caused by non vegetarian food as well. You have to find out which are the items that make you flatulence prone, and avoid those.

I'm Fruitarian and live on raw fruit and vegetables. (10 years this September)
At first there was some flatulence but my stomach adjusted quickly and now large amounts of fibre cause me no problems.
Also your Body odour and scent in general decreases dramatically. (Obviously not so with a vegetarian diet.)

Why would you want to treat it? The RDA of fiber is at least 25 grams. The SAD gets half of that at most. Having flatulence means you are getting fiber and fiber helps your digestive system work well! And having a properly working digestive system means you are healthy! Yay Flatulence!
