This is definitely a question for a doctor please do not take any of the answers on here as this is pertaining to your childs health! Please consult a pediatritian. How do you know he wont be allergic to any other type of milk? Try going other routes like pedialite or something of that nature...definitely ask the doctor what you should do.

Anything in the nut family, coconuts included, can cause allergies. Perhaps rice milk would be an option? You can easily make it a home so you can control the other ingredients in it. I was told I was allergic to milk, and avoided it for 10 years, until I was introduced to raw, organic milk, which I tolerate just fine. Most people react to the steroids (vitamin D), growth hormones, and antibiotics in commercial milk, and the animals are usually fed a diet high in soy. See if you have a local dairy or food co op that has organic raw milk-raw milk contains all of the enzymes it needs to digest itself, and is easilty tolerated by even the most allergic, such as myself. Good luck! Email me if you need more info.

What sort of formula was she on? Obviously nothing containing cows milk or soy so id advise ya to find out where the milk is derived from with her formula and work it out from there. What is she like with foods there is soy in a lot of foods if she is only getting these symptoms from the milk, it would have to be something else.

Coconut milk is very high in fat and very rich. Have you tried goat's milk? At 2 years old he doesnt need milk in a bottle any more. He can gain weight from the food you are feeding him.

Coconut milk is not that nutritious. And really high in bad fats.
Consider getting some PediaSure for him (store brand ok, too). It is cow milk/soy free and has nutrients he can use.
And just b/c he's underweight doesn't mean he's unhealthy. If you and his daddy are both of a trim/slim build, your son will be, too.

I believe coconut milk is a natural laxative. I would definitely talk to a doctor before giving it to your son. Is goat milk an option?

I would get well-fortified rice milk, but you definitely have to talk to his doctor. He might be allergic to cow milk because its industrialized, perhaps organic cow or goat milk might work.
He is already 2, most of his nutrition should now come from solid food. So rly feed him plenty of baby food, and homemade baby food

It could let him gain weight, but shouldn't your objective be his total health, not just fattening him up? At his age, milk shouldn't be his main source of fat, he should be on solid food, including those w/ complex carbs & essential fats, such as ground flaxseed & walnuts. Obviously, a through check-up w/ an M.D. is warranted, you must find out the cause first.

My 2 yr old is also underweight (due to a medical condition) I would advise you to get a referral to a dietitian- they can advise you on his diet and prescribe special high calorie milk such as Fortini (which is very good0 - good luck!
