Did you know that not long ago there were over 300 types of lettuce? How many can you name today?

Marketeers allowed iceberg to overtake the lettuce industry, It's a cryng shame. They almost destroyed the many lettuces that were once available.

Support your local heirloom lettuce dealers, we need to keep the varieties alive.

Beyond that - I eat Romaine the most, but I do like Boston and red leaf varieties also.

I eat a salad every day and I like Romaine. It tastes good.

BUT, when I was in Kansas City, I ate at this restaurant and had an entree salad that had Arugula, pears, nuts and this wonderful dressing on it. It was absolutely delicious! I like Arugula too.

Black seeded Simpson leaf lettuce! You'll never find it for sale since it's highly perishable. You grow it yourself and just trim leaves off as needed. The flavor and texture are incredible!!

1st. Romaine
I can use it in a salad or as a "bread". Has lots of fiber, leafy greens & last a good while in the fridge.

2nd. Boston, Butter or Bibb it's called by all those names. Tender & soft lots of lovely flavor. When bought must be used quickly as it is fragile.

Lamb's lettuce - it's sweet and buttery, yummy!

Or Romaine, that's good also.

Anything but the dreaded iceberg!
