Now I’m anti PETA for many reasons, I want to make that clear before I go on. They do a lot more harm then good. Yes I can PROVE it if you wish.

Of course the video is true, some of it may not have been shot in the US, and a lot of the points are out of date. Most of the video is old, but PETA is trying to make a point and is doing so by showing the worst offensives, most were and are already illegal. Now if I took video of “organic” farming over say 10 years and compiled the worst farmers, I’d show you human waste being spread over crops, yum. Rats running over the fruit, vegetables and grains, maggots in the crops, ETC. It would almost make you a carnivore.

But if you eat meat, you are part of the process of killing animals. If you live in a house, drive a car, or do almost anything in the US, you are using animal products, and are part of the process.

Does that mean we need to abuse animals? No. I know there are those out there who think killing an animal is in itself abuse, fine. Then don’t use ANY produces that use animal products, don’t on one hand say killing an animal is abuse then create a demand for those very products.

But if you are part of the process then we need to kill the animal as quickly and painless as possible.

“Is that really how they normally kill the animals?”

That should give you all the information you need.

If you decide to go Vegetarian study up, you’ll need a varied diet, make sure you meet all your nutritional needs, same thing if you decide not to go vegetarian.

Good luck on your journey though life.

I didn't watch the video, but have seen the other ones with similar things (Earthlings, raccoon dog fur, etc...). I heard the movie Fast Food Nation has a pretty graphic scene at the end of similar things.

I used to live in a town with a slaughterhouse and they had to advertise all the time on the radio about the good pay and benefits for the job openings. Very few people would stay long at this place because it is too gross for most people. I think that says a lot.

It's true. That's what happens at slaughterhouses. Of course as someone pointed out, not all animals are killed in slaughterhouses. Some are killed on the farm, under "more" humane conditions. If you can call being murdered because your tasty and worth money humane.

Animal cruelty is 1 reason to change your diet. I suggest you investigate others as well, like your health, and the health of the planet.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure you are on. You might be surprised where you end up. Make small changes a few at a time and research, research, research.

I'd call up your local large scale slaughterhouse and ask them if you can pop by for a tour unannounced some day in the next few weeks. It won't happen. The meat industry doesn't want you to know how they get meat because it's disgusting and if more poeple knew what animals had to go through then people would probably stop eating their product. PETA can be a little extreme with their tactics, it's true, but that's because they feel VERY strongly about stopping animal abuse and consumption. It's my understanding that those videos are hidden cameras - of course they're only going to show you the worst of the worst, but that's normal - no one's going to sit through every minute of their footage - they have to make an impact with the couple minutes they have you as an audience in these videos. I would think that if what they were showing were not true they would be sued to high heaven and it would take away some of their credibility.

Yes, that video is true. That kind of thing cannot be staged...it really happens. That is pretty much the standard rather than the exception. :-(
Unfortunately, people think about what will make the most money in the shortest amount of time. They want to get everything done in a manner that is best for the humans (in terms of cost, time, turn-aournd, etc.) and they have no regard for the lives of the animals.

Hi Amy, may I ask why you doubt this video disclosing the very real situation of all animals in factory farms (for which we have NOTHING to gain), and not doubt what the meat industry persistently hammers on our heads through expensive public advertisement (for which they have A WORLD OF PROFITS to gain)???

As to groovywoodpecker's post...he couldn't be more wrong!

FIRST, he refers to the old ma & pa farms where some (only some) people were careful not to make their animals suffer too much at slaughtering them, however the majority of them are ruthless because they think animals are inferior to humans - only valuable insofar as being utilized for the convenience of humans.

SECOND, factory farms are totally different form the "hand-made" farms. There, the bloody carnage takes a reality worse than any monstrous things ever done anywhere at any time, and it's constant - day in and day out the poor souls suffering the unspeakable!

If you don't want to believe our hidden films then you'll go through life hurting the only innocent species on earth who's at the very bottom of the gigantic mountain of tortured beings.

If you have any other questions, please ask me and I'll provide you with a lot more evidence in other slaughterhouses (and other than slaughterhouses too) in the USA as well as in the rest of the world. :o) Adela

Do you eat cow meat? I have yet to put a morsel of cow into myself, which I'm very proud of, and intend to keep up through my life. =] The reason I ask, is because you may not want to see the sad truth on a portion of the meat industry...whether or not you eat cow,if do not mind informing yourself on the sick truth, go rent Fast Food Nation. It's an amazing movie. (Not to be confused with Super Size Me)

I have not seen that one movie in particular but have seen quite a few of these types......

It is partially true but it is propaganda at heart.....they are trying to turn you into a vegetarian.
I am a vegetarian and advise you to believe that movie is basically true but to read a book on being a vegetarian before you commit to it.

I wasn't going to answer this but then i saw "Death is natural" from groovywoodpecker

Any clue whats wrong with that statement ???

It baffles me how people can be so blind to even think that the slaughter of an animal can be described as "natural".

Surely it takes just 5 seconds to realise the absurdity of that statement.

Natural is "old age", "liver desease", "killed by prey" etc.....

"Meet your Meat" is a true film, but i think you will find the reality is much worst.
