I thought I'd poll here as to choosing a dot com name for a vegan website I'm developing. I don't want something to trendy, to fundamental or to active.

Something that's appealing to everyone and won't scare off omnivores. As an example:
You know how it is, many companies that are accidentally vegetarian/vegan don't label their products as such..because many omnivores won't buy a product if they see this - thinking its inferior. so...

In the same mindset I don't want to repel omnivores. I've learned lately that it's never too early to start trying to reach out in a big way and certain interactions recently showed me how much people need to be educated flat out..vegan lifestyle could be of course a healthy start and successful plan for a long life.

As well if anyone has further ideas for this site either post them here, e-mail me or IM them to me. Also if anyone has any programming or design experience, IT experience or hobby experience and wants to help - I'm open to proposals :D

WORLD WIDE VEG

or

WORLD WISE WEB

:-D

As you say - better leave meat, murder... as well as vegan, vegetarian etc. out of the name.

I like EARTHLINGS - if it is allowed to be used (regarding the fact that Earthlings is the title of *THAT* documentary).
Or maybe EARTHLINKS?

::Applause:: What an excellent idea! I really can't help you w/ the technical stuff like web design or whatnot, but I'd be happy to help you in other ways - like research, product testing, recipe colleting, etc.

Here are the names I came up with:
1. healthsource.com
2. eatwell.com
3. eatswell.com (get it? eats well or eat swell? it can go either way!) lol. I love the word 'swell'
4. yummyhealthbites.com
5. cybercommune.com
6. veggiegoodness.com
7. goodgreenfood.com
8. momsaideatyourveggies.com
9. eatwellbewell.com
10. youarewhatyoueat.com

I hope these give you some sort of inspiration! :-) Just glancing over the names, I don't think meat-eaters would be turned off by it. I have not checked to see if the names are available or not....I'm thinking they are..... LOL.
Good luck!
:-D

I'm not good at coming up with names but I do have a comment about scaring away omnivores.

Some people simply will never give up meat and you just have to accept that. I on the other hand, am an omnivore, but I am very interested in eating vegan sometimes. You see, my reasons are that I hate factory farming and excessive amounts of meat simply aren't healthy. So, the key to not scaring people like me off is not getting all self-righteous on us and claiming that we;'re bad people for eating meat once in a while, which I intend to do. However, I only like to eat organic meat from local farmers. I think that is ok. Same with dairy. However, I haven't eaten meat in 3 days. Doesn't every little bit count?

Recognize people for their efforts and don't disrespect people who choose to eat fish or dairy or certain kinds of animal products, as not everyone is interested in being completely vegan like you. I'm not speaking about you personally, but a lot of the other vegetarians and vegans on Y/A have offended me and belittled my efforts.

Speaking of "pollo veggies" Have a firm Definition of Vegetarian.. I found dozens of different kinds. oh well I'm a lacto pesco lefta pistoff vegan. That means I only eat milk soaked fish that lived its life being really mad and it only ate vegan foods.. See how silly that is VC have firm definitions of Vegetarian and what they eat,,, Vegan and what they eat.. Omnivore and What they eat and Carnivore.....

garlicpower.com (was the warcry of a veggie commune I lived with for a decade.)
Iwantbroccoli.com (my friend's daughter's request at McD's)
Theeye'shaveit.com (in reference to claim's "I don't eat things with eyes.")
Tophfood.com (okay if I were to start it, this is what I would call it. :-})

To play with one of the ones suggested by Acille1
