Not high protein foods, but take vitamins 400 IU (its the one that is astronomically above your daily percentage somewhere around 1,333%) Take one of those each night before you go to sleep, especially in the summer. Theory is hair grows quicker at night and also in the summer, so by taking some vit E at bed you'll catch a perk in the night grow. Its what the dready kids do to keep their hair stronger.

Ok, since you asked this in the vegetarian and vegan section, I will tell you not to get gelatin. It's made from boiled down animal hydes and bones if you didn't already know that.
I'm not sure that protein really helps your hair grow, but nuts, peanut butter, legumes, soy, eggs and cheese are all protein dense foods. Kiwi fruit is very high in Vitamin E which will help your hair and nails grow and be healthier. Try a strawberry-kiwi smoothie (make it with skim milk, soymilk or yogurt for some added low-fat protein). Eggs also contain Vitamin E and protein, have one for breakfast. Scramble it with chopped spinach for extra vitamins and antioxidants.
Be wary of vitamins that claim to make your hair grow faster. It's just a gimmick. Basically if you are eating a healthy, balanced diet your hair will grow at it's maximum potential.

There are a lot of protein foods, tofu, soy milk, nuts and seeds. But I don't believe there are special vitamins to make hair grow faster, it would just be a waste of money. Better thing to do is try not to think about your hair and do something for someone else that needs help. Time will pass quickly that way and before you know it....your hair is long!

sea veggies, blue-green algea, wheat grass juice, all dark leafy greens.
All of these have 30-50% of their calories from protein. Plus they are also high in calcium and iron and in some cases B12(klamath lake algea).
They worked for my friend and me:)

Wait!!! Get some gelatin first of all. It has the stuff (keratin) that hair and nails are made from. The protean is just an addition to the hair's general make-up structurally speaking that is.
