I've been debatng vegetarianism for awhile now, and I would love to stop eating meat, but there a few things I still don't get.

1. why do some vegetarians eat fish, while some do not? what are the main arguments for and against this, and why is fish a debatable meat?

2. how do vegetarians get enough protein? i'm not found of pills, and i'm sure there would be some other way. I believe thats probably the biggest problem for me with vegetarianism; it'd be really hard for me to get enough protein.

3. how does not eating meat affect your body? both positively and negatively.

thanks everyone, i know there were a lot of questions in this one.

I'm a vegan and have been asked everything from "are kidney beans vegan?" to "what about chicken"? So if you're a vegan or vegetarian, what was the stupidest, funniest or most annoying thing someone asked you about veganism/vegetarianism?

I have been eating a lot of vegenaise on my veggie subs, etc.. It makes them taste better. I miss the fats I was getting from meat.

Okay, to make a long story short, I recently left a jar of vegenaise on the counter top with the jar opened. Vegenaise is expensive, so I didn't want to waste it. I put it back in the refrigerator and just kept putting it on my subs. One other person in my household put it on a sandwich and they got severe diarrhea, however, it is not making me sick. My bowels movements have been normal, not runny or anything. Since I am not getting sick, can I go ahead and finish this jar of vegenaise?

Too much concern about cruelty to animals and not enough about health. Bart&Lisa Bart&Lisa Bart&Lisa. No wonder the Chinese are poisoning our pets--how can the world stomach it when people are dying in war? I come looking for recipes. Maybe their parents wouldn't allow anything as adult as a war protest. Probably it--poor little buggers. Still, kids have knack of coming up with pretty good recipes and they're holding out on us!

This is a new name for people who have tried to become a vegaterian, but get that craving for meat once and a while. So they only eat it on occasion. Which is like totally my situation. Am I a "flexaterian"? What do you think of the term?

I am trying to understand the opposite side of the vegan debate. I am having an extremely difficult time finding any information that contradicts the vegan lifestyle. I need solid facts and statistics. Anyone know where I can find info like this?

I am not looking for slanted opinions.

And I am not talking about meat. I am referring to dairy and eggs only please.

I do sometimes! Sometimes when I make veggie burgers I put a little beet juice in it and that makes it look like it's under cooked meat! it really fools some meat eaters. I also add a little vanilla to hide the veggy smell when cooking! a bit of vanilla in oil for some reason does smell similar to meat don't know why though! If a meat eater sees me sprinkling or pour something.. I just say it's a secret seasoning a good cook doesn't tell their secrets! It's fun to fool meat eaters isn't it? We save the life an animal too while were having fun fooling the meat eater!

I don't know about all other vegans but one of the most prominent reasons that I am a vegan is that I am against the taking of any life. By this reasoning why should I also not be against the taking of a human life, no matter the age?

I was getting a cold about a week ago and bought airborne and hall's vitamin C drops. I checked the ingredients of airborne and didn't see any potential animal derived products (most ingredients though I did not recog.) When I looked at the hall's vitamin C drops, I noticed that artificial flavoring was listed and so was Red Lake 40. (And maybe natural flavoring, I don't remember)
I was feeling kind of desperate and decided to take both. I knew that artificial flavoring could be derived from animals and vegetables. But I had heard from numerous people that it wasn't anymore. Normally I wouldn't have eaten a product with artifiicial or natural flavoring. But in this case I was so desperate I decided to listen to what the other people had said and just eat the vitamin C drops.
I looked to see if Red Lake 40 was on the list of animal derived ingredients that I have but it wasn't, so I didn't worry about that.
Now I'm wondering if I did something totally against vegetarian rules

Greetings - First of all this question is not intended to attack anyone or anyone's position, it isn't intended to be antagonistic. I am genuinely seeking to understand the position of people who think it is wrong to eat meat.I realize this is a sensitive issue and I'm trying to be thoughtful of others feelings and opinions.

First - I understand the many wrongs done in the meat processing industry. I think those issues are separate from this one. Which is, why is it wrong to shoot and kill an animal, cook the meat and eat it? What is your basis for this argument. The only basis I know of for right and wrong is the Bible. I'm not trying to push the Bible on people, but it's the only thing that I know that says this is right and this is wrong. God slew an animal himself to clothe Adam and Eve, so was God wrong to kill an animal? God commanded animals be killed as a sacrifice to himself for years. Was this wrong? God told Peter to slay and eat animals, and He said for every

I know pasta made with enriched flour is unhealthy. I am a vegetarian and I was wondering if whole wheat pasta was very good for you. Could I eat it three or four times a week? Also, are there any websites with good info about whole wheat pastas? I just want to make sure that it is a healthy, low fat option. I love the taste of it! Give me the details if you know any!! Thank you :) Please, only answer if you know something about this.
