I am a newbie vegetarian and only eat fish occassionally. What can I eat that can give me more protein in my diet since I don't eat beef, pork or chicken?

I'm studying abroad in Mexico, and the supermarket near me doesn't carry any normal soymilk... only bags of powdered soymilk. Will it taste anything like what I'm use to, or should I be ready for a surprise?

I've been veggie all my life.

I avoid meat because...
it tastes nasty, smells nasty, and there's the ethics behind killing living animals. That's why I avoid it.

It seems to me that eating dairy is very cruel because when cows are milked and chickens are forced to lay hundreds of eggs that seems like torture.

It seems some animals, like cows, are actually treated pretty well until they are slaughtered. Of course some are not, like cows when they are grown for veal or chickens stuffed in a cage.

Overall though it seems like it could be morally permissible to eat (some) meat products, but never dairy.

I only really drink beer, wine and champagne but after o/s holiday bought big bottle of vodka duty free. Would like your favourite vodka drinks. So far only mixed with lime and soda.

I wanted to ask! It was my turn...
Oh and by the way (For everyone that does not know)
THIS IS NOT A CLEVER QUESTION
IT IS NOT FUNNY
IT IS NOT CUTE
AND IT IS NOT ORIGINAL
So maybe you should just stop asking it, cause it doesn't make you cool. But I know that will never happen :(

Best answer will obviously go to the person that picks mine and gives me a star, but I want your honest opinion anyway.

If so, can you please tell me what you prefer to eat. I'm really trying to store up ideas. Right now, i'm trying it out for a week, but i'm not sure what a vegetarian diet lacks. I can probably dig all of this up on the internet, but i realize that it's easier to ask people who are experienced on the subject and have experienced it themselves

Is there another way to go without meat for vegetarian lovers that are borderline diabetic?

I have been vegetarian for about a month now (3-4 weeks since I gave up meat). I must say its really hard when it comes to resturaunts, fast food places in general because most of the stuff they have is meat-based and don't carry meat-subsititues (Boca, morningstar, etc...) options when it comes to burgers and chicken patties. It's incredibly frustrating and part of me misses meat (though i really don't want to admit it). What should I do? Have I made the right choice by going vegetarian or should I just go back to eating meat?

(Please don't leave any rude or sarcastic answers, i'm serious).

I have been a complete vegetarian since the year started so I am relativley knew to all the products available out there. I have recently decided to become vegan... slowly. I really want to give up eggs and would like to know of any "fake egg" products that might be available. Thanks!

I am tossing around the idea of going vegetarian, if not vegan...I understand that some people don't eat eggs or consume milk products because of the exploitation of the birds/cows...How do these people feel about eggs from chickens that are kept as pets, and without a rooster so they are not risking killing a baby chick, or milk from a cow that is kept as a pet? I just wondered if this type of situation makes a difference in how vegans feel about about eating eggs/milk...

Cook the lentils, run through a blender with some of the cooking water and some salt to taste. (you can run it through a seive first or leave alone for more fiber). Refrigerate. Drink and enjoy.
