Cook the lentils, run through a blender with some of the cooking water and some salt to taste. (you can run it through a seive first or leave alone for more fiber). Refrigerate. Drink and enjoy.

I used to make it when I had jaw surgery and had to drink a liquid diet..but had to filter that and oatmeal first before drinking.

the pectin gives it a sort of sweet taste and the salt just adds a little zing, but it is good cold.

It is no worse than Wheatgrass juice or Barley water, both are and aquired taste for sure.

dal is pronounced thal and it is an indian lentil soup, I eat it almost ebvery day with dinner. Shack is cooked vegetables and rotli is thin tortilla made with tofu.
