I'm a vegetarian but not a vegan.
A vegetarian is a person who decides not to eat for what ever reason. ( I don't like meat. It's not appealing to me)
A vegan is a person that not only doesn't eat meat, they don't wear leather or use anyrthing that came from dead animals.

The word "vegetarian" is a generic blanket term used to describe anybody who does not eat meat, poultry, fish, or seafood. This encompasses vegans and also the various vegetarian sub-groups. Vegetarians are generally those people who have chosen a diet with far less restrictions than those chosen by a vegan.
A vegan is a person who has chosen not to consume any animal products or byproducts. Some will even so far as not consuming honey and yeast, and others will not wear any clothing made from animal products

Good question I myself am a vegetarian not a vegan even though my sister is a vegan.
A vegan is someone that is a permanent non meat eater and dosen't drink a glass of milk, have a fried egg in the morning, no butter on their toast etc. Vegans don't eat dairy or fish espically not meat.
Vegetarian on the other hand is someone that only eats or drinks animal parts only if they are still alive afterwards. I don't eat cows or lamb and espically not veal. I eat fish because the places where they are made are cleaner than the slaughterhouses thats cows and chickens go into.
Vegan is someone that is a permanent non animal dieter and a vegetarian is someone who eats and drinks something from a animal only if it's alive afterwards. Hope this helps.

A vegan is a person who doesn't believe in the exploitation of animals (some are vegans for enviromental reasons, but almost all care about animal rights or welfare) for human means and so avoids all animal derived or animal tested products, be it meat, milk, leather, cheese or other products (gelatin, honey, casein, carmine etc.)
And contrary to what the first poster said, there are plenty of tasty vegan cookies, muffins, cakes, and even soy ice cream!
A vegetarian is a person who refuses to eat animal flesh, (meat/rennet/gelatin/alcoholic drinks processed with isinglass etc.) for what ever reason. Someare sympathic to the plight of animals but are unwilling to commit to veganism, or do it solely for enviromental or health reasons.
Hope this helps!

Good question. I'm a vegitarain so I can explain. Vegitarians eat no meat, such as ham, steak, turkey, and chicken. Anything that breathes, vegitarians will not eat although some vegitarians do eat fish. A vegan on the other hand, is someone who eats no maet at all and nothing that animals make, such as eggs, milk, and cheese. So they wont eat cake, cookies, muffins, and ice cream. Be very carefull when cooking for a vegan. Vegitarians and Vegans do not eat turkey or chicken! If you have any more questions pleaseemail or IM me

vegetarian- diet abstaining from the consumption of animal corpses.
vegan- lifestyle abstaining from the use of animal products.
---
As to the comment about plants breathing, this is true. At night, plants respire much in the same way that we do, they take in oxygen, combine it with stored sugars, and release carbon dioxide. (It's basically the inverse of photosynthesis.)
If you care about plants, you should eat them directly, having an animal eat them for you will just cause more of them to die.

tell all veggieans that eat nothing that breathes that plants breathe and you will get thumbs down. STOP THE SENSELESS KILLING OF PLANT LIFE NOW, or S.T.S.K.O.P.L.N. for short.
