it is not my journey that maximum folk 'have an physique of techniques' in direction of veg*ns. I first went vegetarian in 1969 (vegan some years later); I certainly have on no account encountered hostility, condemnation, insults... to be trouble-free, i've got no longer encountered lots activity of any variety. maximum folk could no longer care much less what every person else has on their dinner plates. by making use of the comparable token, i've got on no account met a veg*n that condemns and insults non-veg*ns. the place do you meet those people?

The silliest question I have heard people ask is how do you get your Protein. I am not a Veggie, but I respect the diet choice. People just don't seem to understand. Oh yeah also when people offer vegetarians beans or something that has been cooked in meat bones/broth..

Usually if someone finds out I'm a vegetarian they will ask "How can you live without steak" to which I respond "Pretty easily". Really now, I've rarely had steak, therefore it wasn't that hard to give up.
I'm sure I'll think of some silly questions soon.

My favorite had to be when I was at work one of my co worker had heard I was vegetarian. She asks me "How do you keep track of all those vitamin pills you have to take, I don't think I would have enough room in my medicine cabinet to fit all the vitamins vegetarians need to take a day."
And the old favorite, "Isn't killing plants just as cruel? How do you know they don't feel pain?"

Too many to list!! Its amazing the misconceptions people have. I love when they say a chicken is meat! Basic biology taught me that an egg that is unfertilized is not meat. Some idiot adult grown ups told my 12 year old daughter that if she ate eggs, she was eating baby chicks. I explained to her that if unfertilized, and egg is discarded by the hen, the same as a human woman having a period-its not a baby! You have to wonder and the cluelessness of some people, don't you? Or, what about the good ol' we are "designed" to eat meat? Last time I checked, I lacked the capacity to hunt, kill, and consume a creature without the benefit of tools or cooking, and when I compare my "canine" teeth to my cats teeth, its perfectly clear that we are not "designed" to eat meat. My all time top of the list for ignorant question though, would have to be "well dont plants feel pain too, they are living" hmmmm I grow my own veggies and have yet to hear one wimper in pain when I picked it, but my cat sure does let out a cry if I accidentaly step on her tail. Clueless world, to be sure.

I haven't been a vegetarian for very long, and people have already said to me, "What are you going to eat for dinner, a bed of lettuce?" Or the fact that it's "impossible" to get all the nutrients that are in meat through pills. It's kind of sad.

True story:
I was out for my friend's birthday. We were having some drinks when my best friend (her cousin) mentioned my vegetarianism. Immediatly, another friend of the birthday girl (whom I had just met that night, mind you) pipes up and says,
"You don't eat meat? Are you a lesbian?"
Her question was too ignorant for me to get offended. So I told her "No." The party resumed.

hmm its not something asked, but something said. my sister always manages to annoy me. im vegan and last weekend she was eating a chicken taco and started trying to get me to take a bite because she just "wants me to be healthy." and "you need your protein". grr. i ended getting frustrated and told her that if she paid more attention to what i eat, rather than what i dont, she'd see i eat very well.
