1. That's a good one - I'm sure it confuses non-veggies around the world. lol. If a person eats fish, it is technically the flesh of an animal and they cannot call themselves a vegetarian. Period. No hyphenated names....they are just not vegetarians (regardless of what they say). I think this one is "debatable" b/c in the Bible, it places meat (such a pigs, goats and lambs) into the category of meat while fish is just called fish. In the Catholic churgh, followers cannot have meat on Fridays during lent, but they can have fish. (go figure!)
2. This is a very common misconception about the vegetarian diet. Meat is not the only source of protein. Veggies, fruit, beans and legumes contain a LOT of protein. In actuality, the American diet has too much protein b/c of all the animal products that are consumed. Look at it this way - if you stop eating meat, then you'll probably start eating the RIGHT amount of protein...in the right form. Animal protein has been linked to the following health problems: kidney disease, cancer, osteoperosis and kidney stones.
3. I've had nothing but positive things happen to me after becoming a veggie. I have more energy. I rarely have stomach troubles (such as constipation, acit reflux, stomach aches, etc.). I am more regular and I do not have allergies anymore. (I used to be deathly allergic to pet hair, pollen and grass).
Try it out for a week or two to see if you like it. Base your decision on how you feel. It's easy! Just make sure you do it the right way. Replace your meat with healthy food - not junk.

People choose to eat what they want and call themselves whatever they want also. Society defines a vegetarian as one who does not eat meat. This is confusing because Christianity and the Jewish faith claim that fish is not a meat.
Therefore some who eat fish call themselves vegetarian, although fish is clearly not vegetable.
There is protein in just about everything we eat. If you are concerned eat more beans, nuts, rice, and even dairy products. Americans typically get more protein than they need.
I stopped eating meat while I was a very active and successful runner. I weighed less than 130 lbs. but was warned of an impending heart attack. I figured the only change I could make to help myself was changing my diet.
I am still athletic, but being over 40 has slowed me down a little. It has been 17 years since I stopped eating meat, I would never go back. I am still waiting for that heart attack, it has never happened. 8 Years after I stopped eating meat the doctor told me I had nothing to fear anymore.

1) I don't eat fish because of religious reasons. I'm not so sure why some do. I assuming its part of personal preference or maybe religion. It's kinda saying why some eat eggs and why others don't.
2) I'm vegetarians and no i never get enough protein, but soy products can provide protein.
3) It hasn't been affecting me that much, well i was a vegetarian since i was 4, therefore i hardly remember. But not eating and resisting is all a part of self-control.

1. Personal preference. Some people are ethical or religious vegetarians who don't want to kill any sentient beings for food. Fish aren't cute and cuddly, and they don't whimper when you kill them; overfishing is almost as bad environmentally as cattle production, but it's not as well publicized. Fish are also constantly in the news for their health benefits.
2. This is NOT a concern unles you're a potato chip vegetarian. The protein thing is way overblown unless you're a bodybuilder or other competetive athlete (and I mean an Olympian, not a gym bunny). Tofu and other soy products, as with all other beans, are great sources of protein; eggs, dairy products, whole grains and vegetables also contain plenty of protein. Some people go vegetarian and live off of junk food and frozen packaged crap, so they don't get enough protein. Just because it doesn't contain meat or meat derivatives doesn't mean it should be a staple food.
3. I've been a vegetarian for 17 years. I get sick less frequently than my omnivorous friends and I seem to have more energy (observation, not scientific fact; I work 11 hours a day and still have the energy to work out without caffeine or sugar). I have no difficulty maintaining a healthy bodyweight. I'm more involved with my community because I seem to care more about the quality of my food and those who produce it (I eat mostly organic and local as well since there's a notable quality difference).
You can always taper off the meat in your diet over a few months. Most people who go "cold turkey" (or "cold tofu") can't stick with it because they preoccupy themselves with all the things they're not eating.

Vegetarians dont eat fish, pescatarians do. Some debate that it is a lower form of animal, and doesn't feel pain-I don't agree with that. Sure they feel pain, ever see a fish fighting for its life when snagged by a fishing hook?
Its easy to get enough protein as a vegetarian. Most omnivores consume far more than they should. You can get protein from nuts, seeds, leafy greens, nutritional yeast, eggs, quinoa, millet, rice, buckwheat, peanut butter, almond or cashew butter, lentils, pulses, legumes, etc. Most people consume at least 50 percent more protein daily than they should.
Meat effects the body by contributing cholesterol and other unsavory things. It has pus, urine, fecal matter, growth hormones, steroids, antibiotics, purines, amines, glutamines, and has to be cooked to a certain temperature to kill off parasites and bacteria. It hard for the body to digest because it is made up of protein too similar to our own. A fruit of veggie needs nothing more than a wash, and can be eaten raw. Meat comes with a safety warning about proper handling and preperation. I dont eat things that come with a warning label at all-it makes no sense. On a well balanced vegetarian diet, you can expect dramatic health and beauty benefits-clear skin, shiny hair, strong natural nails, etc. Your bowels will begin to move regularly (after every meal, as it should be) and your digestion will improve, as will your energy. I see no negative benefits to not eating meat.

Probably because fish is considered to be the less barbaric I guess, I personally don't eat flesh.
You can get protein in many other forms other than animal flesh.
Not eating meat: you are less likely to contract mad cow, avian flu, other meat related foodborne diseases. Lower fat intake.
Negatively: you have to plan your diet so you won't become anemic and/or miss out on important nutrients like B12 and protein.
I take supplements for that reason.

I'll start with my diet, Technically I'm lacto-ovo simply because I occasionally use commercially prepared analogs (meat subs) that contain dairy/egg, other than that I'm a total vegetarian. I don't use terms like 'almost' or 'pseudo' [insert five letter V word here] because that's an insult to vegans. My faith? I'm one of the few that still follow central European pre-christian beliefs (most who wouldn't convert got burned 1300-1500 years ago). Lacto-ovo is required for those of us that are selected to be leaders/preachers/sources/teachers/advis... (take your pick of terms- it doesn't translate well) but isn't required/needed for anyone else. I started to become veggie at 8 years old because I chose to follow this path when it was offered to me (so it obviously influenced my choice to be veggie). Does that answer help?

1. Fish is considered seafood, not meat. I think it's meat so I don't eat it while others say it's okay to eat it because it's just seafood.
2. I get my protein from lots of other foods like tofu and stuff.
3. Negative - You don't get the right amount of nutrition as a regular person would.
Positive - Apparently, vegetarians smell better, lmao. [PETA2]

1. fish isnt a debatabl meat, some people just do it because a) thay cant give it up b) its healthy or c) they dont feel bad for the fish
2) there are lots of high proteen foods like tofu and beans
3) negatively: i have recently found out i am anemic so now i have to start eating lots and lots of iron foods. positivly: in mental health, my skin is clearer, i feel better about myself and i am helping savetheanimals

1 they're not real vegetarians
2. eat nuts and beans with fruits and vegetables.
3. not eating meat will lower your risk of heart disease, cancer
diabetes, etc. You should sleep better and feel better. You
will probably lose some weight but your weight should
stabilize after the fat is gone.
