Let's try your question this way...
Hypothetically speaking of course!
I give you a choice of eating a dead person or more people will die! Would you eat a dead person to save more peoples lives?
That hypothetical question is just as disgusting and repugnant as what you asked us!

I wouldn't eat a chicken full stop. You could never hold me responsable for either death - I'm not demanding the artificial over-production and mass slaughter of the poor things for food purposes. I'd never kill, I don't have the body parts to rape anything with but I just wouldn't anyway !!!
I dont see what point is being made here and how it is a moral q.
I don't know how you have been a veggie and have gone back to supporting animal slaughter just for the sake of bacon sarnies. Do you not think 'veggie bacon' tastes tonnes better? I do!! I think fake bacon runs rings around real bacon and is not a slaughtered animal. I don't get the whole rape thing it is a bit sick and I don't know quite why you used it as an example.
Each to their own I guess!!!

Your question is a type of thing that never happens in life.
IF someone gave me a choice to eat a dead animal, I would say no. Simple as that. It's a strong principle of mine, so I fail to see the paradox. Exchange chickens in the story with your own family members, would you be able to do it? That is how sick I consider this madeup situation to be. To me animal bodies are BODIES just like ours. And just the thought of eating one is disgusting.
Im vegan, and I was never put in a situation where I had to choose between what animal dies in order to save another. A choice like that doesnt exist in reality- I choose not to eat meat and I choose not to support meat industry. There are many problems that I cant prevent, but I have made choices that I CAN make.
You're assuming that the first chicken is dead (that I would have to eat) but it wouldnt be dead if no one ate meat...So what you're really asking is,would you kill one animal to save another. And that is a no-brainer. All animals have same worth.
Your assumption that the death of the first chicken couldn't have been prevented, but is simply taken for granted, is thoughtless in itself. Chickens are killed because people eat them. So if I ate one, wouldnt I be part of the problem you dont even acknowledge in your question?
I suppose you dont have a point except to annoy vegans and vegetarians and it just show how little you know about our principles.
I suggest you visit one of countless vegan sites if you're really interested to learn more about veganism.

peace but the triumph
of principles.- R.W. Emerson
Ps. Your explanation about rape is disturbing.

I used to get asked questions like this all the time when I was at school and they were annoying then.No-one will ever put me in this position so it's irrelevant.
If they did though then:
No cos I'm a vegan.
I'm not a pacifist though so I'd beat the person who was going to kill the chicken unconscious and save it and send it to someone who would keep it as a pet in great conditions for the rest of it's natural life.

That makes absolutely no sense. unless someone had a sentimental attachment to the said chicken, why would they kill a chicken and eat it, clearly violating their moral/physical aversion to the meat, in order to save another chicken? they could avoid having to eat one chicken and the other one would still be dead. Either way one chicken will die. Take a break from the all night meth extravaganzas buddy.

I still haven't gotten past your statement that you were a veggie for 10 years and a bacon sandwich got you .. my goodness the cruelty that went into your bacon ( dead now , once intelligent and breathing feeling pig) .... is what got you ?

how would that stop another chicken being killed? if i ate a chicken then there would be less chickens to go around for the rest of us so they would kill more chickens to satisfy the demand

No, and when would I ever be in this situation?
What like, someone is holding a gun to the other chickens head and gives me the first chicken to eat... When would this happen?... What kind of weirdo would put someone in a situation like that?
