I've got a party to go to in a couple of weeks. The theme is hors d'oeuvres, so everyone is to bring something different. I don't want to do the typical fruit & cheese platter, so if there are any good ideas out there.

I've looked online and YES there are TONS of sites with recipes, but I would like to get something that people have actually successfully served.

One thought I had was to make pumpkin bread and cut it into 1" x 1" squares....

Anyone have anything else?? Thanks!!

I recently received a regular-sized crock pot for my birthday, but I only cook for one. I know they make smaller ones, but I can't exchange the one i have. Is it okay to cook small portions in the big crock pot? Would I use the same recipes at the same heat and time setings?

My daughter has been told that she can't eat any food prepared with garlic/onions in the recipe, becuase it will affect the nursing child, ie give the baby an upset tummy. Seems to me like using onion/garlic powder would not have the same effect? She believes that the powder will have the same affect on my nursing grandson?

that green twig looking stuff, what is it?

I heard you were supposed to eat it after the meal, it helps freshen your breath?
or does it settle your stomach?
other than looks, what's it for?

Sales of Riesling wine have rocketed this week after it was used by Nigella Lawson in a chicken recipe featured on her latest cookery series.

In the latest sign that Lawson has inherited the legendary power over shoppers that Delia Smith used to enjoy, Tesco says that sales of the white wine have jumped by 30 per cent in recent days, after the cook featured her Coq au Riesling dish on this week's edition of Nigella Express on BBC2.

My recipe says to use "canned pumpkin" and everytime I go to the store all I see is "pumpkin pie filling" and I'm making it from scratch.

I was wondering where I would get this "canned pumpkin"?And I'm asking to double check that "pumpkin pie filling" is not the same as "canned pumpkin"?

Thank you for the help

OK, afew weeks ago I was @ my Aunt’s & there was an Infomercial on TV for bg noise & it was 4 this thing like a waffle iron bt w/ 2 big “Pockets” instead ofthe waffle pattern.

The chick used cake mix to make 2 little individual serving cakes & it gave me an idea…

Can you use cake mix in a waffle iron to make “Layers” that u can fill with cream, jam, or frosting (if it is made from scratch cuz the caned stuff would be REALLY overpowering) between the layers?

I was thinking I would lay all the layers out on the counter then “Fill” each layer so I could alternate fillings to give it a striped look when cut. Something like nutella on the bottom layer, peanut butter on the next waffle, then invert the pb layer onto the nutella layer so that the PB & nutella touch then “Filling” the top w/ more nutella, then invert a PB Layer exc exc exc. until I get as tall a “Cake” as I want. PB&Nutella might overpower if I did it for ALL the layrs bt I’m still tweaking da idea… Think it works?
