Horsd'oeuvres, just a fancy name for finger food. I usually just get different types of crackers, like Ritz or Triscuit, and Keebler has a cracker that is very good too.
Then add cream cheese with black or green olives, tricuit has a recipe that has cheddar baked on the cracker in the oven but I think cold works the best you don't 'have to worry about them. Celery and carrot sticks or mushrooms and a pot of bubbling cheese fondue is good too.

Is your party a Halloween party? If so, you could make either this 7-layer dip or this Taco Pie. The Taco pie is prepared in a pizza pan and is orange in color so with strategically placed black olives you could make eyes, nose and a mouth for a pumpkin. The mouth could even be green bell peppers. Here are the recipes:
7-Layer Dip
1st layer - 1 can Jalipeno bean dip
2nd layer - 2 avocadoes mashed with lemon juice
3rd layer - Combine 2 T sour cream, 3 T mayonnaise and 1/2 pkg Taco mix
4th layer - 1 cup each of cheddar and jack cheese
5th layer - 3 Roma tomatoes - diced
6th layer - 3 green onions chopped fine
7th layer - 1 can chopped ripe olives
TACO PIE
1 large can refried beans
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 small can diced green chilies
1 pkg shredded cheddar cheese (2 cup)
2/3 c taco sauce
1 pkg Taco seasoning
Line pan bottom with refried beans. Cook ground beef until no longer pink - drain. Add the package of taco seasoning and mix well. Spread over beans. Spread chilies over ground beef. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the chilies. Pour the Taco sauce over the cheese. Cook in a 400º oven for 20 minutes. (I generally add dollops of sour cream to the top when I don't make it into a face). Serve with Tortilla chips.

jar of artichoke hearts drained and chopped with 1 cup mayonaise and 1 cup grated parmesan cheese. Mix together and pour into shallow baking dish. Bake at 375 for 15 to 20 minutes, until browned and bubbly. Serve with pieces of french bread... yummo!
Make mini reubens:
1 pound corned beef and 1/4 pound swiss from the deli, small can of saurkraut and 1-1/2 cups1000 island dressing.
Cut meat and cheese into small pieces
drain saurkraut and chop up small
Mix all ingredients and place a dollop of the mixture on pieces of party rye bread. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes until bubbly and enjoy.
Take bagels, tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese to make mini pizzas
Bye an assortment of mini eggrolls and serve with duck sauce on the side
All these work well and taste great! Hope this helps

How about a bread bowl with dip? I like the Knorrs spinach dip. For the bowl I use a round loaf, any type of bread. For dipping, I cut up a loaf of rye or pumpernickel.
Another easy one is chili dip. In a pie plate layer an 8 oz pkg of cream cheese, a can of chili, shredded cheddar. Bake until the cheese is totally melted. Serve with tortilla chips.
These are simple recipes that are always a big hit, enjoy!

* Pepperoni (or Sausage, or Cheese) Bread
1 lb pizza dough
1/4 lb sliced pepperoni or cooked, crumbled sausage
2 c. shredded mozzarella
parmesan cheese
Italian seasoning
Preheat oven to 375. Roll out the dough in flour. Cover with pepperoni or sausage (if desired), cheeses, and seasoning. Roll into a loop and rub the top with a little bit of oil. Bake 40-45 minutes and cut into 1-inch slices.
This travels really well, but I'd give it a test-run before the party to see how much you're going to get out of it, and to get used to rolling out the dough, etc.
OR
* Mini Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
- Cocktail bread or white/wheat bread cut into small shapes with cookie cutters
- Cheeses (American, mozzarella, pepper jack...whatever floats your boat) cut into slices the size of the bread-- 2 slices per sandwich
- Crumbled cooked bacon, if desired
These are a big hit, but you'd have to prepare them pretty close to the time you're leaving the house. Grill in small batches in a skillet with melted butter. Drain on paper towels, then line a container with paper towels. Warm in oven before serving.
Have fun!

This is really easy. 1 pkg of Velveeta cheese, 1 pkg Jimmy Dean sausage (spicy) and one pkg of rye or pumpernickel cocktail toast. Brown the sausage in a frying pan, melt the cheese in with it. Spoon the cheesy sausage mixture on to the cocktail toast and then broil it for 2-3 minutes (or until the cheesey sausage turns a light brown). This makes it crunchy and keeps the cheesy sausage from rolling off the cocktail toast. It is very good.

Savory deviled eggs
12- hard-cooked eggs, peeled
1/2 c. light mayonnaise (or regular mayonnaise)
1 tbsp. honey mustard
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/2 c. large pimiento-stuffed olives (about 8), chopped
parsley for garnish
1. Cut eggs in half lengthwise and spoon yolks into a bowl. Reserve whites. Mash yolks with a fork. Stir in mayonnaise, honey mustard and black pepper.
2. Reserve 1 tbsp. of the chopped olives. Fold remaining chopped olives into yolk mixture.
3. Fill whites with the yolk mixture. Sprinkle reserved chopped olives over the tops of the eggs. Refrigerate for at least one hour.
Variation: Prepare filling, omitting olives. Instead, stir in 4 strips cooked, crumbled bacon and 2 tablespoons of shredded cheddar cheese.
These make alot and are inexpensive to make. They are really delicious.

1 pound Sausage ( I prefer Jimmy Dean Roll Sausage)
