Cooking & Recipes - September 2007

We cooked fresh chicken breast with artichokes and mushrooms. Then refrigerated it that was about noon. The next morning the tin foil on top of the chicken was pitted and the chicken had grown mold overnite. We threw it out. Any clues as to why this happened ? Thanks

I'm having a friend over and she doesn't eat anything that I know how to make. She doesn't eat fish, meat, mushrooms, cheese, tofu or olives. To make matters worse, she's not into Indian or Thai food(which are exactly the recipes I turn to when I need to make a vegetarian meal). Any ideas?

A friend of mine said he prefers electric stove tops.

I prefer gas because I can hear what I'm doing with the stove.
Example

click, click, click, wimpy whoosh. means its going like it should. Adjust the knob, then listen for the right about of "hiss" and continue.

click, click, click, nothing. electrical ignition failure.

Where as electric I just guess, and listen for the right sound.

I first make stew chicken with chick peas and onions,
I boiled the spaguettis ( in a separate pot) than when down, I add to the stew chicken already cooked. You can add cheese if you want.

i was watching oprah and they showed people eating tomato paste on crackers and said it was good for your skin. this sounds retarded, but i've never eaten tomato paste so i don't know how it's supposed to be prepared.

The instructions are: ...2) combine dry mix vvith 3 tbsp vegetable oil, blend 3) add 3/4 cup cold vvater, mix to blend 4)...lightly greased pan 5) bake for 40 mins.
Serving Size: about 1/10 mix.
Serving per container: about 10.

If the vvhole package is to be poured, is 3/4 enough vvater?

To me it is a weird combo. I was going to make meatloaf and mashed, but when I got home I realized I had no potatoes. I did however have a butternut squash from a friend. I never make butternut squash, but now it is happily baking next to the meatloaf and I can't decide if it's a starch or a veggie. I have :
