Can I use cornstarch instead? Recipe calls for 4Tbs. flour. How much cornstarch would I use?
Recipe calls for whisking 4 Tbs. all-purp flour into 4Tbs. melted butter. Then adding heavy cream.

Thanx!!

I have a jar of white cake frosting left over from a Christmas craft at school. I'd like to use it this weekend, but I don't want to make a cake. What are some other uses for cake frosting? Keep in mind that I am NOT good at baking, so it needs to be relatively simple. I've burned water before.

I want to make a Fresh Strawberry Pie, but I want to use a ready-made pie crust. I'm looking for one that is similar to Bakers Squares regular pie crusts. (Not the graham cracker crust) Which is the best one to use? This is a fruit and jelly filling, so I want a firm crust that won't get so soggy. I hear Mrs. Smith's, Marie Callender, and Pillsbury are pretty good. When it comes to Pillsbury, which one, the frozen or refrigerated one? Thanks and Happy Holidays.

There are many recipes that include wine in the ingredients, but I have never cooked with wine. There is a recipe in my cooking book that I want to try to make- Its rice with mushrooms, the ingredients are butter, chicken broth and white wine. I dont know what kind of white wine to buy, and I am not really a wine drinker, so I dont know much about them. Please recommend a white wine for cooking!!
