I've moved overseas and they don't sell the candy apple kits here. I am a pregnant woman with an intense craving..... ok ok, I admit... maybe it is too soon for my cravings to kick in... I just love candy apples!!!!!

I've got potato's I need to use, and an arm roast in the slow cooker to get it ready...anyone have a recipe that incorporates these two items? I have all sorts of veggies and spices, so that's not a problem.

When I make homemade bread its always soft and fluffy but if it doesn't get eaten by that night then the next day it looses its freshness. I know that store bought bread has preservatives in it to make it stay softer longer but is there anything I can do at home to keep that softness longer?
Thanks

I've never ever tasted Gingerbread, but I heard that it's not exactly a true taste. Has anybody ever tried Gingerbread, and if so, is it ok or something I shouldn't try at all? Also what's the difference between gingerbread and gingerbread cookies?

Doing cooking for Christmas dinner today and just made the pumpkin pies...Noticed the mixture was a lot runnie4r than usual, but didn't think much of it. Went ahead and poured it into the pie shells, haven't put them in oven yet.
Then, got the can out ( used the easy pumpkin pie mix that you only add 2 eggs and a can of evaporated milk) and realized that the ev. milk can was a 12 oz. can instead of a 5 oz/ can that the recipe called for.
Should I just throw it all out or can I still bake it? Will it still set up and turn out ok? Or, is there anything I can do to fix it if I pour the mixture out of the shells and back to a bowl and add something else??

Thanks in advance!!

My mom makes these date bars every year, and somehow lost the recipe. She said it was in a 2000 issue of Good Housekeeping, in an issue about bake sales or a section about bake sales, something like that. She said they weren't called date bars, but the main ingredient is dates, and the best way to describe them is date bars. I know it's a longshot, but if anyone has the recipe, it would be the best Christmas present ever! And it would help bring peace to my house :)

I was making gingerbread men, but couldn't find ther ginger- I used cinnamon and nutmeg and reckon they were better than the genuine article. What last minute alterations have you had to make- and did you improve the recipe!
