I was making gingerbread men, but couldn't find ther ginger- I used cinnamon and nutmeg and reckon they were better than the genuine article. What last minute alterations have you had to make- and did you improve the recipe!

I was making chili and was out of chili powder. I used cumin and it was so yummy. Now I always add cumin along with the chili powder to my chili.

On any recipe and not just cookies? I have a recipe for cream cheese and rosemary pinwheels. It calls for a mixture of cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, and rosemary. My husband didn't care for the rosemary so, I switch every once in a while. I've tried basil, garlic and onion powder, thyme. Pretty much anything would work. Just depends on what a person likes.

It sounds silly, but I went to make a box of mac & cheese and after the pasta had boiled, I discovered I was out of milk and all I had left was heavy cream. So I used that and tossed in a couple slices of American, and it was the best ever.

Now I always do it.

When making angel food cake, I had no powdered sugar. I Use all regular sugar!
People who never liked angel food cake, loved mine.
Well it wasn't light and fluffy.... it was sweet, and good though.
I stick with that recipe now. I don't like ginger, so I think I will try your recipe!!!
