Simply replace the onions with shallots. My brother has an allergy to onions, but loves the taste. So, we just use shallots instead. It tastes just as good. It you just don't like onions, just don't put them in your stuffing.

I love Stove Top brand stuffing, and it has onions. However, I hate onions any other way. For holidays, I make my own stuffing, and it's much better than the box kind. Here is my recipe that has been in my family for approximately 200 years (no kidding).
It's A LOT easier to make than it sounds! Trust me...
Granny's homemade dressing:
10 cups of sandwich bread, torn into large pieces (you can leave them set out in an uncovered bowl for 12 hrs to dry out, but I don't always do it and it's fine(
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon ground sage
1 teaspoon onion powder(optional)
2 beaten eggs
5 tablespoons butter
chopped celery(optional)
Mix all ingredients together. Add enouogh milk and/or water to make it soupy.
Bake at 350 degrees until browned. It will be a soft stuffing, not really dry like the box kind.
You can either bake it inside the bird or bake it in a separate pan in the oven.
Good Luck!

FACT: Onions go off very very quickly once exposed ie;cut.
There is nothing more tasty than stuffing and things made with a small amount of onion mixed in but its not a good thing to add this to a turkey that has to last for more than 2 days.
You can add herbs like thyme and parsley that will give youre turkey the same taste as onions do. Add a little black pepper to the stuffing aswell.

Stuffing - without Onions
1/2 cup chopped celery

4 cups bread cubes
1 teaspoon pepper
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground sage

turkey or chicken broth
Sauté celery in the butter until softened. Combine onion mixture with bread, pepper, eggs, salt, sage and poultry seasoning in a large mixing bowl. Stir in broth until well moistened. Enough for an 8 to 10-pound turkey.
Or bake in a casserole at 325 for 35-45 minutes.

If you want a turkey stuffing without onions, your best bet is to make your stuffing from scratch, starting from either unseasoned bread cubes or making your own cornbread (which is what I do).
The commercial stuffing mixes just about all the seasonings for the cook's convenience.

Don't stuff it. Health issues: Stuffing harbors bacteria and seriously put everyone at risk. For taste of the bird: Stuffing adds mass---> More mass means longer cooking...> Longer cooking means drier meat. For taste of the stuffing: Stuffing comes out lighter and fluffier in a casserole dish. It's easier to control the moisture. Stuffing in the bird results in soggy stuffing. I know some people are just used to the tradition, my grandmother always stuffed and when I started cooking I stuffed too, till my college biology teacher taught us about how much bacteria it causes. Show him the light.

Make your own stuffing and just leave the onion out. Seriously. Homemade stuffing is SO MUCH better than Stove Top, and I like Stove Top!

Make your own with fresh breadcrumbs/ or dried ones. All you do is add some hot water oil or butter plus your favourite herbs and some nuts and fruit (cranberries and/or apricots). Just experiment and if you use herbs like Sage and Tyme and some seasoning (salt and pepper) it will taste the same as they sell in the shops but less the onion.

Who uses a box stuffing mix for the holidays anyway? Yuck! Making your own is just as easy as opening the box and here is a hint for no onions...DON'T PUT THEM IN.
