Im orignaly from america and now moved to the uk, im just begining to do my christmas baking, AND it seems like all my cookie recipies call for shortening back home i used crisco, but ive been up and down every isle in ASDA and TESCO and can not find a similar product anywhere, when i asked an employee they didnt have a clue what i was talking about. I know a lot of american products have a uk counterpart im sure there must be something similar to crisco over here does anyone know what the products called and in what general isle i might find it?

My husband's birthday is Saturday and I want to do something special for him at home. Our daughter is ill, and my mother has been very sick and I've needed a lot from him and he's been right there helping me throughout all of it. He loves Chocolate, so if anyone has a good recipe for a good Chocolate cake for him that would be great but I am also looking for dinner ideas for that day. He likes Chicken..

What would be the best way to thaw a Tuna Steak?

Should I just leave it to thaw out in the fridge?

I have it currently vaccumed sealed in the freezer.

What do you suggest?

Could I boil it...or would that cook the fish? And if so...how good would boiled Tuna Steak taste?

Thanks.

I know it uses chex cereal, and either (or maybe both) melted peanut butter and/or melted chocolate chips. The cereal is coated with it, then tossed in powdered sugar.
I just don't know the amounts, and if you use peanut butter or chocolate. An accurate name would be great too. Thanks.

Any advice on how best to roast chestnuts - in the oven???

And is it bad to eat them raw (any bad experiences you've heard of?) Because they are so tasty raw!!! But I don't want to eat any more, for fear of some revengeful backlash... :)
