Aside from the popular Equal and Splenda varieties (of which I prefer Equal), there is a product called Nature's Sweet Crystals.
A customer of mine told me that she prefers these in baking, since they have the same texture as sugar and gives foods its proper consistancy. As weird as this sounds, Susanne Somer's has a line of sugar substitute called SomerSweet that is 5 times sweeter than sugar, supposedly healthy, and has no aftertaste. You can get that on HSN.com I'd personally just stick with Equal, which has proven safe over time and tastes good.

Stevia is an all natural sweetener. You can buy it either powdered in packets or in bulk, or in a liquid form. It's really great if you want to cut back on sugar, but don't want the chemicals present in Aspartame and Splenda.
It is available at any health food store, and some major retailers.

Honestly I dont think anything that is man made chemically can be healthy for you. If it wasnt made by nature for man to eat its probably not the best to be putting in your body. There have been tons of people who drink things like diet soda everyday and end up complaining of horrible headaches and stomachaches and all sorts that go away once they quit drinking them. Yes it may have more calories but sugar is the healthiest. If you cant have sugar use honey.

Try Splenda and avoid anything like Equal or NitriSweet as they contain Aspartame which is said to have been originally developed as a powerful ant poison.

There are no good subsitutes. So when used in moderation, natural sugar is always best.

Honey, real maple syrup, stevia(found at health food stores), and dates are the most common substitutes. Splenda, sweet and low, nutra sweet, and equal are very harmful to your health, aside from the popular beliefs. The ones I mentioned are natural and good for you.
