I'm trying to make a simple syrup using brown sugar insted of white and its not working plz help...also does using 1tsp dark kero make any differance

The only thing I could think of that would make it not work would be the presence of molasses or sorghum in brown sugar. Those two things may effect the structure of the sugar not allowing it to dissolve properly in water. If you have seen it made before, with the dark kero, then I'd say yes, that does make a difference.
