Apparently my grandma always used to make my Dad mustard pickles when he was growing up. He has always wondered how to make them, so I've been looking for a recipe so I can surprise him with some! Any help would be great!

does anyone know how to make , im not sure whats its called, but its candy, you make it mostly in the winter months because the weather has something to do with how it turns out, its like taffy, you have to pull it and pull, then cut it in small peices,

I've never cooked meat before so can I ask......I know you have to be careful with germs, and should wash the knife and board after cutting chicken.....but surely then the washing sponge gets germs on it?.......I just want to be careful.

We use goose fat a lot in cooking (esp. roast potatoes - yum!).
We are wondering if it would be possible to use goose fat instead of lard in shortcrust pastry for our mince pies.
If so, how much or what proportions?

A recipe I have calls for "Prepared Mustard". Is that just the simple yellow mustard you put on hotdogs and hamburgers?

We are having roast beef for the entree and I am supposed to make the dessert. What dessert goes good with roast beef? My mom thinks that apple pie is good, but I thought that some sort of Christmas cake or torte would be better since we had pie for Thanksgiving. Any ideas??

It's a sad day in the Morg household, we're running out of everything and it's too cold to go to the grocer's! The only filler I seem to have left for a meatloaf is rice. Should I cook it before adding it to my meatloaf? If not, should I make the meatloaf with a bit more a liquid/loose texture to give the rice the moisture to cook? Or should I just bite the bullet and make some homemade bread to use as a filler? What would you do? (Besides going to the grocer's, of course.)
