Take a loaf of french bread and cut it length wise. Take one stick of softened butter and mix in about 3 cloves of chopped garlic. Salt to taste. Spread the mixture over both sides of the bread. (Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if you like) and place under oven broiler until the butter melts and the edges begin to turn brown. Slice and eat.

A loaf of french bread-cut horizontal-take 1 stick of margarine of butter-put in cup, melt in microwave for about 20 sec, check it and redo another 20 till it melts. Take 2 or 3 fresh cloves of garlic, peel them, take a large butcher knife and lay the flat side on top of the garlic and using your other hand, mash down on the garlic to smash it. Then take the butcher knife and dice up the garlic-add it to the cup of melted butter. Reheat one more time-so the butter gets the garlic flavor. Leave the garlic in the butter and with a pastry brush, brush on the 2 halves. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes(checking frequently). It may be done in 10 minutes-so watch it close. (If you don't have a pastry brush, take a soup spoon and kind of drizzle the melted butter over the bread.) Just for fun- on one half of the loaf-sprinkle parmasan cheese over the melted butter....

Use this White Bread Bread recipe. Note add the amount of garlic to suit your taste.

INGREDIENTS

* 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon white sugar
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1-2 cloves of crushed garlic
* 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
* 1 cup water
* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 3 tablespoons olive oil

Definitely! Healthiest is a pesto/olive oil that you just brush on, top with some fresh grated parmesan romano and then toast in the oven. Yummy for the tummy.
