We live in a country where you can't just go pick up "Granny Smith" or whatever. Crispy? Softer? Very sweet? Tarter? I want to freeze quite a bit to carry us through a (very long) winter!

I have a recipe that calls for "cake" flour but found nothing of that sort at the store- i have all purpose flour and self rising flour. Are either of those acceptable substitutes?

I have had 2 blenders during the last 12 months, and both broke down when using them.

The first one was a DeLonghi. The second one was a (cheaper) Cordon Bleu.

I need to buy a new one, but I would like it to last a little bit longer. What blender do you recommend?

I cook a lot, and I use blenders for nearly everything: soups, sorbets, dips, sauces, breadcrumbs...

I'm talking of jug-blender, not hand-blenders.

Thanks in advance!
