This is a great stew recipe (my mother would turn over in her grave if she knew I'd posted it on the Internet...she deliberately left one of the ingredients out when she gave it to me...luckily she liked my brother more and gave it to him in its entirety, then he supplied me with the missing ingredient after she died).
1 pound stew beef
¼ tsp minced garlic
1 med onion, chopped
6-8 med potatoes, cut in quarters
4 carrots, thickly sliced
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 can tomato soup
¾ C red wine
¼ C water
¼ tsp basil
¼ tsp thyme
½ C ketchup
Brown meat, then garlic and onion. Add potatoes, carrots, and celery. Top with soup, wine, water, herbs, and ketchup (in that order). Let simmer for one hour; check frequently and add more wine and water (equal parts) if necessary.
Good served in bread bowls.
Another good one came from a friend of mine who was short of cash and threw everything she had into the pot for dinner one night. I call it "Nadine's Goulash".
1 lb ground beef
1 lg onion, chopped
½ sm green pepper, chopped
1 lg stalk celery, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
1 can tomato paste
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 C macaroni, cooked and drained
Cook first 4 ingredients plus spices until ground beef loses color. Add tomato paste and crushed tomatoes. Simmer about 1 hr. Add macaroni to meat mixture and simmer about ½ hr. Add water if necessary

my absolute favorite is chicken turkey soup. after thanksgiving, i take the turkey bones and such that aren't eaten, and make a stock out of them. that becomes the broth. add chicken meat and vegetables (celery, potatos and the like). i find chicken meat has a better texture, and doesnt fall apart in the cooking. i personaly like to use a simple homemade noodle. dont forget the extras like parsley and salt. enjoy!
i dont have exact measurements. its like an add and taste kinda thing. sorry

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Therefore as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.
