Is there some basis for this, or is it just some backwoods, sibling-molesting moron with fewer vocabulary skills than George Bush?

I have a chicken in the slow cooker. My husband and I are having my brother and sister-in-law over for dinner tonight, and I'm not sure what sides to have with the chicken. Should I stick with mashed potatoes and gravey and a veggie? Or I was thinking homemade mac and cheese and baked apples. Its chilly and rainy outside. What are some yummy ideas?

I'm not talking just Doritos or a packet of ramen. Something that's really sad but comforting that you make yourself. Something from childhood or college days?

I was thinking All-Clad or Le creuset for general purpose cooking. Dont like Non-stick beacause of the teflon.

I am gluten and dairy free intolarant and a very bad cook. I have bought many books on this but I find the majority of the recipies simply take too long and are too complex and very few are both gluten and dairy free. Barbara Cousin's cooking without has been a god-send, but I'd like a little more variety. Any suggestions of recipies for a cooking novice?
