I don't really want to make anyone feel bad, but I don't consider them my friends. I don't know how to tell them that they are not invited because they seem so excited about my wedding ever since I got engaged and they are always asking me for details of how all the planning is going. What do I do?

My degree absolute will be in effect from the first or second week of January, even thought the 27th December is the day that the absolute can be appilied.

It's just over a week before our requested RSVP date. We mailed 100 invitations, but have received only 15 - 20 RSVPs so far. The caterer needs a headcount in about 2.5 weeks. I'm thinking of sending a short, friendly e-mail this weekend or early next week to remind people to please mail in their RSVP cards by January 5th. Is that ok, or is it rude? We have some friends/family who are notorious for not replying and making a decision at the last minute.

I know that it's perfectly acceptable to call people *after* the RSVP date and ask them whether or not they're coming, but I don't want to wait until that date and then have to make a few dozen phone calls in the span of a couple of evenings

Opinions?

I'm getting married Sunday. I started planning the wedding only 4 weeks ago. I bought my dress off the rack and it fitted perfectly except for the length. I can wear a 2.5" heal and it wouldn't drag the ground, but my groom is already a half inch shorter than me. I don't have time to get the hem taken up, so should I wear the shoes that I have and be 2" taller than he is or let the dress drag the ground and wear slippers? I'm really open to either option at this time. I figure I can raise the dress whenever I go outside, so it won't get too dirty. After the wedding can a cleaner get the bottom clean enough? What do you think???? Thanks :)

My fiancé and I are paying for our wedding. However, the invitation will say we request the honor of your presence along with our parents. When my sister got married, my parents got the RSVP's. However, they also paid for the wedding. Because we are paying for it, and they are just an honorable mention, should we still get them?

We are getting married in May, my parents said its okay to ask for an HDTV on our registry, but I think that is too expensive. However, she stated people ask for China, and that is expensive. I already have my mothers’ china, so we will not have anything else that is outrageously expensive. We will be registering at Sears, as it is a common store. In light of the fact HDTV’s will be the only source of television come March of 2009, unless you want to buy a converter, which costs almost as much as a new TV. Is a new TV appropriate?

I was married for 7 years and have a child from the union. We had a court officer come to our house to officiate the marriage. Unfortunately I had to end it after years of emotional abuse. I could not be any happier now that I am mature enough to know I met my soulmate, even my son is really excited!! Now we are planning a summer wedding and my first religious marriage. I am looking at brides magazines and I see all those beautiful white gowns and ask myself if it would be in good taste to wear one or should I just pick another color?

I know there aren't nearly as many men who answer questions in the wedding section, but:

1.Guys did/will you purpose on a holiday? Or did/will you do it on a special occasions? Or on just any old day?

2.Girls were you purposed to on a holiday or special occasion? Would you prefer one over the other? Or would you like a regular day to be all your own?

This questions is assuming that you have found that special someone and will in the end marry him/her or have already done so. I just want to know if you had the choice what would it be without telling me that love and the right person are all that matter. (I don't care how my man will officially ask, but if I got to choose I would want it to be on any old day to make that day special for the two of us and not feel like it is cliche'. I would also like it to be an idea all his own and not a romantic seen that someone else thought up)

My boyfriend actually told me he was going to propose and went on and on about how special this christmas would be. He never asked me and I'm starting to resent him.

My boyfriend just proposed to me on Christmas eve! We're both very artistic people and are trying to think of some clever ideas for our wedding!! I think Im going to find a corset wedding dress, and he might wear a white tux. Most likely it will be a spring/summer wedding.
Anyway we're just sitting around, & i thought maybe someone out there in the web world would have some good ideas for us.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

the phone when i called her today. I met her in person before hiring her and she has responded to an email (about 3 weeks ago) after I paid her. she told me to contact her again to make my first appointment for after the first of the year, and I did today, thats when she didnt answer. I have only paid her deposit, which is $200, only 1/3 of the total cost. what can/should i do?

My boyfriend of 2 years asked me to marry him. We went to Tiffany's and he bought me a 60K diamond ring. Is this too much? Can I even wear this beast? I need some input. You can tell me to F**K off if need be.

I just became engaged and have started thinking about how I would like our wedding to play out. What we'd really like to do is have a small wedding ceremony and then a large reception. We would like them on the same day but have about 30 more people at the reception because our church can only accommodate so many. How could we make this work? Would we have a few hours between the ceremony and the reception so that there's no overlapping or right after another. The reception would be at a different location than the wedding.

My name is Kyle and i'm getting married for the first time to my girlfriend of 5 years. I am 24 years old and Anna is 22. I want a small wedding, just close friends and family, but Anna has dreamed about a big wedding since she was a little girl. I dont want to deny her anything in life, but I'm not sure if we can afford the wedding of her dreams. We're still paying off college loans. Is there a way to convince her that her wedding is just too much, or should I suck it up and foot the bill?

My parents and hers both say that they'll chip in, but even with help, Anna's perfect wedding will cost at least $50,000 from my own pocket.

I'm just wondering if anyone else out there with a non-diamond ring has gotten bashed by family members (or friends)? Or maybe my relatives are just nasty. The most rude comment was "couldn't he afford a diamond?". Others have been "are you sure you really didn't want a diamond".
I have a BEAUTIFUL aquamarine center stone. It is gorgeous! It is just what I wanted. I love it! And I remind my fiance all the time how much I love it and how thrilled I am with it (I'm also a little afraid he might hear some of these comments and second-guess his choice).
Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

My fiance and I have decided to have our wedding during the Holiday season next year. We would like to have a Decemeber wedding? As an outsider and taking into consideration that this would be during the Holidays---which date would you feel most accomodating?

Sat. December 5th
Sat. December 13th
Sat. December 27th

Our first & second choices are the 13th & 27th. Our only hesitations are; would people be irritated with a wedding so close to Christmas. Or on the other hand---would it be too much to ask to have it between Christmas & New Years?

PS- We decided to do it during the Holidays for several reasons:
a) we both can get a lot of time off of work ( I get 2 weeks normally)
b) we won't have to worry about decorating a church!
c) venues are HALF the price in the winter here

Please let me know your thoughts!

Sorry to anyone whos already seen this.. i just posted it in the marriages and divorce section but thought it would be wise to post here aswell.

Im 25 years old (male) and engaged to my fianceee who iv been with for around two years but as we get closer to the big day theres something thats really bothering me
Baisically between the ages of 14-17 when i was at boarding school i fooled around (for want of a better word) with one of the guys i shared a room with. Since then nothing like this has ever happened but iv never told anybody about this and so much of me wants to get it off my shoulders and tell her to start married life honestly and everything but on the other hand so much of me dosent want to say any anything for fear of what her reaction might be. Do you think that i should say anything or is it something we could go for the rest of our lives without her ever needing to know?
Thanks in advance
