Get yourself a legal pad. Take it with your everywhere you go. Seriously.
Have a page where you write down every single idea, or thought. This helps as a reminder.
Begin with writing down the different categories of what you want ... like wedding gown, wedding party, wedding place, reception, flowers, cakes, music, ceremony, etc.
Then .. on each category, write down what you would like .. for example on your wedding party .. how many do you want ,, who do you want .. what kind of attire for them, cost, where to look, who can help. etc.
Do this for everything. Keep it all together on your legal pad. I stayed completely organized by doing it this way.
Also - go online and get check-list for preparing a wedding ... and .. go to your library for wedding preparaions books.
There are many ways to cut huge costs with weddings .. such as having talented friends who can make flowers ,, bake cakes ,,, sing ,, etc.

You just got engaged and planning a wedding for June??? Why the rush??? You do realize that is the most popular month to get married, right? You're already way behind. I got engaged in September and planning for next August and had a very difficult time getting a lot of things booked.
The two biggest things you need to focus on right now is the ceremony location and reception location. With that, you'll need to decide how many people you want to invite. I had to change the church I originally selected because we expect close to 400 guests and the original church holds only 144. We also had to keep the size in mind when selecting a reception site. Once you get those booked, then focus on other things (photographer, dress, catered if not included with reception site, cake, etc.).

Congratulations on your engagement!!!
First you have to figure out what your budget will be or if you will have one at all. After that you want to start with the location. It will be the biggest part of your budget. If your reception is not at a hotel or another venue where catering and decorations are included, then your next step should be to find a caterer. Make sure that you have an idea of how many people will be on your guest list. The more people you invite, the more money you will need to spend.
I hope this was helpful.

Congratulations!
The VERY first thing you should do is set out your timeline. This will tell you what to do and when - it is essential. Don't take one first step without this done!
Look online there are alot of versions that you can use as a guide.
Don't start getting into anything untill you have yoru course of action set out otherwise you will be in a confusing mess.
Prioritize, orangize and plan - then you start taking the action steps to cross things off of your list. Some things are very time sensitive making a timeline a must have.
Google - Wedding Timeline or Wedding Agenda Planning.
Good luck

Make a list of things you want to do before the wedding. I assume it will be somewhat small since you plan on having it in 6 months. So decide how large it is to be and then go from there. Unless you elope the easiest thing to do is invite only family and close friends, book a church or rented facility, have two attendents/witnesses, a cake and some punch, a few flowers, and purchase a dress. You might want to look online for information on planning a wedding.

Start by deciding who will be helping you with your wedding plans, and call a meeting with all of these people. You and your fiancee should have the date and basic ideas of what you hope to have for your special day. Then delegate jobs to all of the people that will be helping you. You need to talk about a budget, and who will be responsible for paying for each *wedding category* You also need to get a guest list together asap, each side of the family should give this list to you, and you and you fiancee will also need to make your own list of friends as well. Depending on the size of the list you will need to find a venue for your wedding an reception and reserve it SOON. Also you need to find and put a down payment on your wedding gown asap, as alterations take months. The down payment is usually half the total cost. The rest of the details should be achieved with a time line that you and your *wedding team* workout at your meeting. Most important...HAVE FUN!!!!!! Congratulations!

Make a list. It will be 100% easier to sit down with your fiancee and make a list together, to get both your ideas. I think the guest list is most critical. That depends on how many chairs you'll need, table setups, food, etc. For decorating, I used this website www.save-on-crafts.com. Amazing how much I got taken care of with this website. After you have decided how many guests will be attending, find your venue. Things will fall into place, and it will be stressfull, but it is well worth it! :)

First off, congratulations!
Now, what I did is I bought bridal magazines, bought a bridal helper book (it has a ton of lists and suggestions), find and book a location and set a date, make a budget, dress shopping. Book a DJ, photographer, officiant, sort out bridesmaids.
The first bit was a total whirlwind but it all fell into place for us. Hopefully it does for you too. And make sure your fiance helps too!

set up your profile and it will help you with all the details, even finding the location, dress, registering. So helpful and it eased my mind as we embarked on our jorney. We just got engaged too. I found the magazine in Barns and Noble and then went to the website. It has really been such a help.

set your budget. find a location....once you secure the location all the other stuff will fall into place. if you plan on ordering a wedding dress, go and get it now...it can take 4-6 months to order. go register. find a photographer, dj/band...order invites...and enjoy the planning.
