I'm getting married Sunday. I started planning the wedding only 4 weeks ago. I bought my dress off the rack and it fitted perfectly except for the length. I can wear a 2.5" heal and it wouldn't drag the ground, but my groom is already a half inch shorter than me. I don't have time to get the hem taken up, so should I wear the shoes that I have and be 2" taller than he is or let the dress drag the ground and wear slippers? I'm really open to either option at this time. I figure I can raise the dress whenever I go outside, so it won't get too dirty. After the wedding can a cleaner get the bottom clean enough? What do you think???? Thanks :)

If you're taller than him then go with it!! No need to look short to make him feel tall. I would wear the shoes.

i had an outdoor wedding and my dress got quite dirty around the bottom. but after the trip to the cleaners it looks like new. my advice: wear comfortable shoes. if you're comfortable in the heels . . . go for it. if not, wear the flats. everyone says it, but comfort is what's important. i'm sure your fiance already knows you're taller. obviously he's fine with that or you wouldn't be getting married. have you asked him how he feels about the shoes and height difference at the wedding? he might not even care. also, pictures can be staged, so the difference isn't too noticeable. the whole point of this is that ultimately you need to pick your shoes based on what you want. and remember, you'll be wearing them for a loooong time.

Just be taller! I'm 2 inches taller than my husband, and with a 1-inch heel I was 3 inches taller...it looked cute. You might be able to find a 1-inch heel and then it wouldn't drag on the ground like a slipper would. Don't worry about getting the fabric clean afterwards, it's likely a polyester fabric and it will come right out at the cleaners, just bring it to their attention.

The bottom of every wedding dress inevitably gets dirty so don't let that be a factor....as far as the height situation goes....go with whatever you are going to feel most comfortable with...flat shoes will certainly make your feet and back more comfortable for the day!

I would let the dress be a little long and wear the slippers. I understand about not wanting to be a lot taller than your man. Just do what makes you most comfortable. Congrats!

Easy answer if being taller bothers you- he can wear a higher heel on his dress shoes, quicker than a hem. Also you can fake it in pictures. Just remember this is the man you love- you don't have to be ken and barbie

Wear shoes that make your dress fit. Don't worry about being taller than your groom - it just doesn't matter. My Dad was a couple of inches shorter than my Mom, and no one cared.

Can you walk in the dress without heels without tripping on it? Go with that option if you can, but practice to make sure. And most cleaners can get the dress clean, as long as you didn;'t drag it through puddles of mud!

If you are slightly crafty, you can buy material that you can iron on to hem your dress. You can get it at Wal-Mart in the sewing/fabric section. It comes in a roll and you just cut strips of it, fold the dress to the length you want it to be, put the strip in between the fabric, and iron over it with the iron on low heat (no steam). I do it with all of my dress pants since I don't sew. It's super easy, it'll take 15 minutes.

My goodness. Your detrimental mom to be so irrational and down ideal hurtful to objective and pass off lies approximately your husband to be. this is terrible. And now she is conserving your gown hostage. i assume some human beings never develop up. You have been very, very sensible to take administration of your wedding ceremony. and you have been ideal, your mom is controlling as obvious with the only one ingredient she will administration, your gown. i could in simple terms be tempted to circulate forward and get yet another gown to dodge the disillusioned and the drama you will would desire to handle with the intention to get the gown. Or, you would be able to desire to easily call her and ask "mom, whilst am i able to %. up my wedding ceremony gown?" Or, is there a pal or a relative who can get the gown and carry onto it for you?? despite you come back to a determination to do, you would be able to desire to do it right this moment. through fact in case you do not have the gown in hand interior some days, you go with this time to look for yet another gown. i'm sorry to assert that your mom seems very spiteful and because she already tried to sabotage your fiance's character, i does no longer placed something previous this woman. I in simple terms don't understand the form to have faith her after the shananagins she orchestrated. whether she provides to offer you the gown, i does no longer financial employer on it till it is on your closet next week.

Wear the shoes. The dress will look awful if its dragging on the ground.

I would still try to find a tailor. Call your local dry cleaners- they usually have excellent tailors on site.
