my boyfriend just proposed a couple days ago. I am really happy but for some reason its been buggin me. His proposal wasn't really planned out of too thoughtfull. he came up behind me, put the ring in my face in just said will u marry me? I know it really shouldnt' matter and I should be happy, but it didnt' seem like too much thought was put into it. I was expecting something a little more romantic. he didtn' even get on one knee like the traditional way. I jsut need to know how to get over that and just be happy w/ our engagement. I just feel kinda hurt and I dotn' know why.

We finally set the date and I am trying to figure out a good color. I originally wanted to get married in December or January but decided that was too close to Christmas and anyway my idea for snowflakes and a shiny blue don't seem to be fitting for a March wedding. Any ideas or websites that would help me decide would be greatly appreciated!

this will be my reception card wording as it's in the same location as the ceremony "Reception immediately following the ceremony" i have a very detailed website on wedding channel that nobody noticed printed on my save the date magnets. i'd like to add an insert saying "for additional information please visit our website at www. blahblahblah". should i print that right on the reception card or do another little insert?

My girlfriend and I have been living together for 5 years. I'd like to get maried, she dosn't. her latest reason was, How bout when we retire? wouldn't you rather the both of us get the full
social security then get one that's combined? Is that true? Do we get less if we get married?

TONIGHT I am attending the wedding of an old family friend. My parents and I were invited, but the invitation did not include a "plus one" for my boyfriend of two years, who the bride has not met. Yesterday, against my wishes, my mother called the mother of the bride and asked to have him invited, and the mother of the bride said yes, but I do not feel comfortable because I strive to follow etiquette rules, particularly in regards to weddings. Is it now rude not to bring my boyfriend?

These emails go into quite graphic detail. I confronted both my Fiance and the other party but both say nothing happened. But in the emails, they were arranging to meet the following day at our house for god knows what. I decided to give my partner another chance because i believed him that nothing happened. My financee and I were talking the other day, and he said that he wanted to buy a gun. For no reason, whatsoever, he wanted one. I told him that it makes me uncomfortable, and that I don't want him to buy it. Plus I don't think it's necessary.

Today, he suprises me by saying that he bought it ($300) and he said that he was not asking for my permission.

First of all, he is in incredible DEBT. And lots of it. He's been complaining about it and it pisses me off that he did that and created more debt for himself...and eventually it would be my debt since we're planning to get married in Fall of 2008. I am the one planning to pay for most of the wedding. He is spending money like it grows from a tree.
Second, he totally went against what I strongly felt about guns. I told him that I don't even want to hear a word about what I buy from now on then. Or how much money he owes.

Has anyone ever dealt with this type of situation? I needed to get this off my chest!!

Ok, are wedding reception will be 50-60 people at Japanese Restaurant... we both drink, along with all our friends, but no one in my family drinks and just a few relatives in his family drink a glass of wine or so...

So should we just go no alcohol? I don't want it to look like all the young people are drinking and the "adults" are not... plus don't want to make my family uncomfortable.

Her name was Darlene Maxwell ans she passed in TX, we believe one of my sister in laws got the money and never told her brothers which one of them is my husband, Darren Zebrowski and his brother Eugene Zebrowski WE want to know what I have to do to find out if she received anything b.c we dont care about the money we care that she is selfish and if anything we were putting it away for our childrens college funds. to have a Maid of honor but no Best Man? Our intentions where to not have any at all because it would be cheaper but my bestfriend really wants to be in the wedding and she said she will even buy her own dress.

Also she told me today that in the Catholic wedding the require you to have a best man a maid of honor because they are considered witnesses. Does any one know if this is true?

Oh it is Christmas time,..
my husband said that this year he is not going to get me a Christmas gift. I agreed but I am hurt. He got a gift (which he always does) for his mom and grandma; but he did not for me. He does not give his brother any presents either.
We have been married only a year.
I don't want to be all dramatic, but I am really hurt by this. I love giving out gifts to people I love, so I do not understand.
We get along great, we love each other, but it really hurts me. He did not give me a birthday gift either. Why didn't he?

My friend is planning an extravagent wedding in August and her sister announced on Christmas that she's pregnant and due in August. Her sister always has the attention, having had two big weddings already and my friend is always backseated. How or what can I do to make her feel better? It's not fair to her to be backseated during her own wedding process!

he bought the rings, and he avoids going to get our marriage license, am i wrong or paranoid, but it seems to me that he maybe having second thoughts. maybe he is waiting to get back with his ex, or what could it be??? Am i wasting my time waiting for this to really happen?

My friend's wedding is this weekend and i am broke! I was going to just get her a card, is that bad? What else can i give as a gift that is inexpensive or free? I should also mention that she is not really a good friend, but we've known each other for years. I am debating even going if I cant give her a gift and also because she has ditched out on me on my birthday parties, baby shower, etc. What do you guys think? Should I even go, and if so, is a card ok as a gift?

A friend of mine "WAS" getting married tomorrow in Michigan...I originally told her that I could not attend because of it being around the holidays & so far away. (I'm in Texas)...Well she convinced me to come after all a couple of weeks ago...so I was talking to her on Christmas eve & tell her I'd see her this weekend. So today here I am in Michigan, sitting at the airport waiting for my delayed flight BACK to Texas!!!!! I get here and go to the hotel she told me about, & the desk clerk say's there is no reservation in your name or my friends name...so I tell him that I am there for the wedding...& he tells me that that particular wedding had been cancled last week..WHAT last week when I just talked to her...So I'm trying to get ahold of her...finally 3 hours later, and she says well we postponed because my parents couldn't make it...we thought you wouldn't come anyway!!! Now I'm out money plus I'm stuck at the stupid airport & will probably have to get a room..

me and my boyfriends wedding is either in 2010 or 2011. i dont have a job right now and wont be out of college till 2009. what would you suggest we do because once we set the date we have to start making plans and if i am out of college in 2009 then june 21st 2010 will be our wedding date. we want a 100 person wedding. i want a ball gown white wedding gown, with 6-7 bridesmaids and 1 maid of honor who will all wear identicle dresses, i want a 4-5 layer cake with different frostings and good food. if by 2009 we dont have enough money should we start thinking about a loan or a credit card????

I'm trying to figure out what I can spend on the reception for our wedding. Ideally, I would like to have between 140-150 guests. I'm interesting in having a traditional dinner, preferably sit down (but I would consider an elegant buffet if cheaper) I would also like to have open bar in this price.

Most reception sites in my area include the cost of the bar and food in a per person price. We live in a high cost of living area. The cheapest plates I've seen start around $70 and work up from there.

We are contributing 12K to the wedding and both set of parents are giving about 3K (give or take) So, we have an 18K budget.

How much should we set aside just for our reception. My top prioprity is feeding my guests well.

im getting married in may. we are having a beach ceremony and then a reception at a venue about 10 minutes away from the beach. how would i write the location of the beach ceremony on the invitation? the beach doesnt have a physical address, so would i just give the nearest cross streets? or would i give the address of one of the buildings and then write outside of .......whatever building?? please help!! what is the proper way to do this with out confussing the guest?
