skip the alchohol. its not necessary for a good time. Have a bottle of champagne later on your wedding night. My husband and I drink occationally but alot of our family members don't. we served martinellis sparkling apple cider for a toast.

I work at a restaurant and we have had a few families that do the receptions as no alcohol but do allow the people to go get drinks themselves. This means everyone can drink but its from their pocket and so they wont get too drunk because its not free.
The restaurants usually let you do a seperate bill for that, and the server can just seperate the drinks from the food.

Definately have alcohol. You need a good mix for a great party atmosphere. Let the non drinkers drink water or whatever and if you want to liven things up then have a few drinks - remember its YOUR big day, don't worry about the others.
and yes alcohol is ESSENTIAL for having a good time. I'm from the UK and the thought of a tee-total wedding would be a total nightmare.
What do you want for your big day? Fun, frolics and laughter or a load of people dressed up in suits talking quietly???

I wouldn't worry about it looking like the young people are the only ones drinking or about anyone being uncomfortable. You could serve just a couple alcoholic drinks (maybe champage and some spiked punch), and then have plenty of non-alcoholic alternatives. Really it's up to you. Personally I would really feel like somehting was missing if I skipped out on a glass or two of champage, but it's all about you and your future husband.

Skip the alcohol. Offer wine (
white and another) if you so choose. Young people will probably go out after the dinner reception. they don't need a head start and you can save some $$$.

It is your wedding and your choice of drinks. If people are just coming there to drink alcohol, then they are not really interested in the joy of your event.
There will be less of a chance of people knocking things over, throwing up, getting in fights in the parking lot, or getting in an accident on the way home.

I would do what ever you want ...it's your reception. Talk it over with your hubby to be. You can have alcohol for people who want it...the others don't have to drink....really it's totally up to the 2 of you who are getting married!!
