No you don't. If you have to pay to get to where THEY want the wedding.. you do not give a gift.

No, with the cost of destination weddings, if you plan on attending, most couples don'texpect a gift. I attended a destination wedding and gave them a smalll picture frame with a card with my own message. They really appreciated the thought. Another time, I purchased a Christmas ordament for their tree from the area. They also appreciated that gift. I am amazed at the number of people who do not
attend a destination wedding and do not send any gift. Hope yours is a wonderful memory.

That's up to you. Usually attending the destination wedding is gift enough if they aren't paying for it. Otherwise, if they are having a reception at all back at home, you can bring a gift to that.

You never have to give a gift.....but the cost of travel really doesn't factor into how much you give and isn't really an excuse to give less or nothing.
Next door or in the next country you CHOSE to attend the wedding. You could have just as easily sent your regrets and your gift. Plus, you are getting some benifits too by having a nice mini-vacation so don't play it off like you were dragged kicking and screaming.

Gifts are never ever required for a wedding, whether it be local or a destination.
Give them a nice card. Then, if you want, give them a nice first anniversary present.

There is no "normal" amount for a gift. Give what you can. Gifts aren't mandatory.

This may not help but here goes: a good friend of mine moved accross the country and I flew out with my family for the wedding. I made a vacation out of it and spent a whole week. I spent the same on her gift as I would have anyway.

I sure would not. I would get them a gift card. If you don't have anymore money left over. Then by you just showing up is a gift to them! (laughs)

Hi...it's always prudent to be prepared.. For inclimate weather, for life, really anything it's also the same for weddings, birthdays, funerals.. Or you can think of it this way if the situation where reversed how would you feel??
Just because you are paying to go to a wedding is no excuse to not be prepared by not bringing anything.. Think about what I've said here..
