I know there aren't nearly as many men who answer questions in the wedding section, but:

1.Guys did/will you purpose on a holiday? Or did/will you do it on a special occasions? Or on just any old day?

2.Girls were you purposed to on a holiday or special occasion? Would you prefer one over the other? Or would you like a regular day to be all your own?

This questions is assuming that you have found that special someone and will in the end marry him/her or have already done so. I just want to know if you had the choice what would it be without telling me that love and the right person are all that matter. (I don't care how my man will officially ask, but if I got to choose I would want it to be on any old day to make that day special for the two of us and not feel like it is cliche'. I would also like it to be an idea all his own and not a romantic seen that someone else thought up)

I would have hated it if he'd proposed on Christmas, my birthday or Valentine's Day. Those are stand-alone days, and an engagement ring is not a proper Christmas or birthday gift, in my mind. My fiance proposed on kind of a special occasion, though. We went to a charity ball that we go to every year. So, we were all dressed up. He proposed that night, on a highrise rooftop, under the stars. That kind of special occasion was a good choice.

I will not propose on a holiday. It's well...just not right. A holiday is a day meant to celebrate that day. Like Christmas...if I propose on that day, I've lost the meaning of it.

I will propose on any old day...but not just any way...I would ask her to go on a vacation with me in the summer. She gets to pick the country. I'll research the country and try to find a perfect site to propose. Then try to plan it out so we visit or stay at that place....and propose. Of course...if she doesn't want to go there....there's always flexibility to the plan. =]

I was proposed to on the second anniversary of our first date together, in the same location. It was perfect- nothing fancy, all straight from the heart. Then we went out for a nice dinner. I suspected something but I was still surprised.

I would not want to be proposed to at a holiday. It's too much distraction. Also, I would hate to think that he decided to ask me in September but waited for Christmas to make it "special"- once you've decided that you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want it to start as soon as possible!

I was proposed to on December 10th. Just a regular day. I much, much, MUCH, prefer that too over a holiday (xmas, valentine's day, birthday) or an anniversary day. Those are just to corny and predictable and too common. It makes it more special when ithe proposal it its own special day.

He proposed to me out of the blue, no months/years of planning ahead of time, just when the moment felt right. I hate the thought of him spending months planning a secret, I prefer everything open and honest. I also think proposing on birthdays or Christmas is just a cop-out for not having to buy a gift.

My fiance bought my ring months before he asked me.....so i kind of forgot about it....he didn't propose on my birthday and I don't think he wanted to propose on a holiday because it could be expected.....

instead he planned out an entire day's events....(included me being a total pain in the @$$) lol...and proposed to me on December 17th 2006.

Totally unexpected.....I was embarassed that I was a biatch...

My fiance proposed on Thanksgiving weekend...not on Thanksgiving day, but that Saturday. But I really like this...because every Thanksgiving I have something special to be thankful for, and I still an "ordinary" day (depending on the year) for it to be special to the two of us.

My proposal was good. He proposed to me on Christmas Day 2006 under the tree, on the floor, surrounded in wrapping paper from my son's gifts and clothes and hair everywhere. It was sweet. It wasn't expected but we did look at a few rings (one I picked out, I received) as we were "shopping for my son" this particular day. We went out looking for stuff for my son but we just happen to stop in the jewelry store and he was like oh look that is cute and I played along like yeah its cute oh I like this one too, which is the one that I received.
