Why or why not?

I am trying to make a seating arrangement for my wedding reception. We decided to have a head table with our bridal party. That alone is ten people. I was planning on having all my girls on my side and all the men on my hubby's side. Four of the people in our bridal party are bringing dates. We hardly know these people. I put them all at a table together with a couple singles, but then someone told me i need to seat these dates at the head table too. Is that right? If I can seat them elsewhere do i need to sit their table right next to the head table or can they be further away. I was trying to keep our family closest and like i said we hardly know these dates of our wedding party. Ahhhh! Help! What do I do?

Okay, my "department" at work is two but really one. (Complicated) Anyway, I planned on inviting just the people that work on my side of the department, that I know better. The problem is, ALL of them are probably going to get me gifts or throw me a shower at work. They are just those kinds of people that love to have parties and stuff. So there's a 90% chance that people who I didn't plan on inviting will get me a gift. I really was trying to keep the guest list down! What do I do?

People still get married at Easter; But the practice of marrying at Christmas seems to have died out.

My FI and i are paying for our wedding ourselves. After the tuxes, the flowers, the dress, the cake, the rings, the reception hall and the food, adn the DJ there wasn't anything left for favors, is that really bad? We didnt even have enough to have the place decorated, i feel really bad about it...

I don't mind kids being at my wedding, and there will be lots. But there is one person on my fiance's side that has a demon child. He spits on people, he bits scratches, and yells for no reason. She has no control over him, mostly because she doesn't disipline him at all. If she goes I want her to leave little Damian at home. How do I tell her to leave her kid at home when there will be tons of kids who are invited.

My dad and I have drifted apart dramatically since he started dating his new girlfriend. I have not seen him since Christmas and have not talked to him in over 2 months. My mom says I should have a song just in case, but I honestly do not want to see his face. So....it the spirit of keeping things cool, what song would be best for a dance I want over as soon as possible, that's fun (so I can actually enjoy myself), and has nothing to do with a father's love, inspiration, or other crap.

If you knew someone and knew they were getting married but you didn't get invited, you wouldn't go up to them and ask where your invitation was, would you?!?! This happened to a good friend of mine at her workplace. Another girl heard people talking about getting invited and she hadn't received her invitation, so she asked my friend where it was. The two of them aren't even friends. How and why could she do that to my friend?

I'm not trying to sound spoiled so please, no rude answers.

I got married about a month ago. Before the wedding, I recieved several gifts, and at the wedding we received a few, totalling approximately 30 gifts. I sent out 100 invitations total. I'm just wondering if this is a new trend, to not send a gift or card when you've been invited to a wedding. Approximately 100 guests showed up to the wedding, about 1/2 of the invitees.

I wouldn't normally be mad about this, I would be happy with just a congradulatory card, but most people didn't even send(or bring) that! I just wonder why people I spent time (and money) inviting wouldn't even acknowledge my marriage? These aren't distant people, some are my first cousins! I just don's understand how people can be so rude not to even send a card.

I know etiquette states you have a year to send a gift, but honestly, how many people receive gifts 6 months to a year later? I just don't get it.

What is the proper etiquette regarding what the mother of the groom wears at the wedding? I was told that she should ask the mother of the bride what she's wearing and then coordinate from that standpoint. Are the bride's wishes or her mother's the ones to go by?

My boyfriend and I are going to a wedding on October 6th. He is one of the groomsmen wearing a black tux and orange vest, and the bridesmaids are wearing brown. I'm thinking about wearing a halter dress that hits mid calf. The color is David's Bridals oasis, which is kind of a calipso color with black undertones. Because it is the first weekend of october I'm planning on wearing it with black heals and a black cashmire wrap.

What do you think??

My only concern is that I wore it to his sister's wedding this past March, and his whole family is coming to the wedding as well.

I am getting married October 6th and send out our invitations the end of August with a reply date of September 21. As of right now I have over 50 people who have not replied. If on the 25th I still haven't heard from them, do I call them and ask them if they are coming to our reception or do I just assume that they are not and that is why they haven't send back their response card.

I'm nervous about putting on my dress on the wedding day. I've always put on the shoes, crinoline, bra first and then had the dress put on over my head. I'm having my hair and make-up done before I get in my dress on the wedding day. One friend suggested that I step into the dress and then put the crinoline on after. Any suggestions?

the hall where we want our reception quoted us $1,000.00 for a down payment for an October 2008 reception by email. Then she sent us the contract via email, and it said $500.00 to hold the date and then they need $2,000.00 deposit due by date a year in advance! That is $2,500.00 by October 3rd for what will be a $3,500 (approx) wedding reception! the deposit will be going towards the cost of the reception, so there will only be $1,000.00 left to pay, but we cannot come up with that much by the 3rd! we want it to be at this place because the price includes everything, even 3 hours of open bar and centerpieces. Anywhere else will cost a lot more and need to be catered, what would you do? I have not signed the contract as of yet. Thans in advance!

I have a swanky work Christmas party I would also like to wear the dress too. I am a size 16, empire waist looks best on me, hour glass figure..thanks! $100 limit

Does anyone know of a GOOD, RELIABLE site online where I can order cheap wedding invitiations? I like simple, my theme is double interlocking hearts and my colors are all different shades of blue and silver. I will need about 125 invitations and I'm looking for a price under $100 for that and the inner and outer envelopes. It would be nice if the reception card and response card/envelope were included in that price, but it is okay if they are not.

Thanks!

What do you say when you have just told your future in laws you are getting married and the first thing his mom says is, "well your parents are paying for it all."

first of all my parents can't afford to help. my fiance and I are paying for everything ourselves.
second of all we never asked his parents to help in any way and weren't planning on it.
