I don't want to have to worry about anything but I am also not rich and am working with a budget.

On zales.com if you click on wedding you have 3 options. Promise rings, Engagement rings, and Anniversary Rings. The only rings I seem to like are the promise rings. Can you use a promise ring for an engagement ring?

I ask because my boyfriend and I have been looking, and those are the ones I liked. So can a promise ring be used as an engagment ring?

i really REALLY want to get married outdoors, and i'm in a fight with my mom over this right now. we're (me and my fiance) thinking may wedding, in a tent, and if possible, ceremony outside. but i cant find a location. we were hoping for something that's kinda woodsy, but possibly has a paved/cement/brick area that we can put the tent over so just in case it does rain, it wont be too muddy in the tent. does anyone know any nice areas to look at? we're hoping for something in Fairfax county, as thats where we live and all of our family has to fly in from out of state so we dont want them driving all over NoVa.

thanks!

My fiancee and I are having a hard time deciding who to ask to stand up with us. A smaller wedding party is important to us to help trim costs. He thinks we should have three each. For my side this would include my brother, my best friend and my sister-in-law all of whom I am very close with. The fuzzy area is another friend that I have had for many years. I was her maid of honor six years ago. I plan to include her daughters as flower girls. Question #1: Is this a figurative slap in the face to her?

Another friend in question that I have had for many years is not in contention for a spot on the wedding party. This will quite possibly offend her so much so that our friendship will not recover.

Question #2 Why is choosing a wedding party so difficult? I don't intend to hurt any feelings or friendships in this process. I am interested in hearing from other brides who were in similar situations and how you handled it, what was the outcome?

In the office I work in they usually do baby showers for any employee that is expecting. Now their is an employee that is getting married and the boss does not want to plan a bridal shower because they usually don't celebrate marriage. Most employees are upset over this claiming that marriage is as equally important as the birth of a child.

We've both got large families that we would like to include in our wedding...about 220 people including our CLOSEST friends. We just can't imagine cutting anyone out, so please don't suggest that we make our guest list smaller...we're very close to them.

How can we do a *nice* wedding for 220 guests on $10,000.00 or less?!?! I'm stressing out here! HELP!

:)

No I am not engaged as of now, but I do know it will be seen. It has been discussed a great deal over the past few months and are soon moving in together. However the last time I saw his mom she made a general statement to him that when he decided to get married, he could have her ring to give to his wife. I don’t dislike the ring I just don’t want it, it’s not my style. I also want something that is my own, something unmarked by pastness (I know thats not a word). How do I tell him things with out hurting him moms feelings. I also don’t want to sound selfish, as in “you must spend money on me” because its not about that either.

the ceremony. Does that include talking on the phone? Is it bad luck to speak to the groom before the ceremony too?

Also, I often see the bride and groom giving each other gifts before the wedding (not seeing each other, but gifts are delivered to them). How common is this?

Please, I want to know the traditions. NO, it's your day, do it the way you like.

I have a volatile family...as in explosive. My deadbeat dad (who took a sabbatical from life, dumped me and my mom, and became a long-haul trucker {neither here nor there} ) recently has reentered my life. I'm getting married in the next few years (its complicated by my hubby-to-be being in the Army) and while i will invite him to my wedding Mark (deadbeat) will have no part in it. My problem is I can foresee conflict and lots of it. Either J (fiance) is going to confront Mark about the way that he has treated me for the whole of my life or Mark is going to pitch a hissy fit because all he can do is sit and watch while another man takes his place in all the fatherly wedding day duties. And then there's the possibility that my dad and Mark will have their own cussing match. So how can I do the right thing by inviting him and not have him ruin my wedding day?

My fiance and I were making plans for our wedding when we found out we were pregnant ... so now, with the pregnancy 17 weeks along, we have decided to post pone the wedding because we dont want people to think we got married because of the baby. Would anyone else postpone the wedding because of their pregnancy, or would you just go ahead with it? I cant help but feel this might be a little selfish somehow.

We are not super wealthy, but it seems like it's the same old question, what do get the person who has everything. On our 5th anniversary, I took her down to the car dealership and we drove off with a brand new SUV! Have more kids now, and travel is difficult for a get away. Even a simply romantic idea, or thing would be awesome.

typically, when a man proposes to a woman and she accepts, he places a ring on her finger, and later they get married. the thing is the man paid for the ring but he didn't give it to her as a gift, but a symbol and a token of their commitment.

who actually owns it? the man or the woman?

My niece is my Matron of Honor. I would like to have my best friend as my Maid of Honor also. Is there a rule against this? They are both my best friends and have been there for me through everything. Why should I have to chose one over the other?

Is it in poor form to just put the address on the invite instead of the name and address? The place is beautiful, but it's called "A Touch of Elegance", and that just sounds cheap and cheesy to me...

Instead, is it still appropriate to say "Reception following at (insert address here)".

What do you think?

I am getting married for the second time and I am on a tight budget. I was just wondering if it's appropriate for me to use items from the first wedding, such as the cake server, guest book pen, stuff like that, nothing like the dress.
