Ok my fiance's parents are going through a (nasty) divorce. His mother cheated on her husband, lied to the family, and did some other unmentionable acts (she blames her husband for all of the terrible things she did). She is the type of person who carrys a grudge forever. My fiance doesn't want her at the wedding since she WILL cause a scene. He'd like his grandmother to stand in for her since she has been his real mother figure. He wants his mother cut off completly, he hasn't even spoken to her in months. I have no problem with this but I am concerned that his mother will flip out. Even worse, show up! I've left a spot on the list for her but didn't tell my fiance. She won't be getting an invitation though. I'm very concerned though, I know it will be bad if she comes, and bad if she doesn't. We have less than 6 months till the wedding and this is a real issue. What would you do? Any suggestions?

Me and my future wife are having problems getting our rehearsal dinner planned. I want to have a small gathering of the wedding party plus a few extras like the mothers and pastor ect. My fiancée wants to have this huge BBQ at the park with everyone from both families there. Which is more in the line of how a rehersal dinner should go. Any advise.

Why is it that if you want a big engagement ring, you are vain or don't love your boyfriend. I would never ask for certain requirements in my engagement ring. But, I do think if you date someone for a long time you know their standards.

So, what if I want a one carat ring. IMO, if he can afford it, then why not.

People try to equate "bigger rings, bigger weddings" with bad marriages. I know lots of people w/ smaller rings and smaller weddings and they still had bad marriages. And vice versa

What's so wrong with being a little vain. I've been with my Fi for 3 years. If I didn't love him, I would not be with him this long. He's not "loaded" but makes decent money. As do I. Why can't we have a bigger ring and a bigger wedding.

I mean, why do the women get "blamed" for wanting the larger rings. In the end, the men are the ones that make the purchase and decide on the size and amount. So, aren't they just as vain as the women they love?

We are both from very religious families and no one would dance anyway. Should we dance anyway?

If your boyfriend said on your (20th) b'day weekend he was going to give you a promise ring, then he calls and says it won't be shipped until a few days afterwards. How would you feel? What would your response be? Should I just be happy I am getting one and shut up?
I just held the phone in disbelief. Please help me we are totally in love and I don't want him to feel bad beause of the shipping date, but I want my ring too!!! lol

While my fiance and I were shopping for our wedding rings, I thought I saw him starring at a female. I look far better than her and we are getting married so I can't understand it. He denies starring at the woman. I understand looking, everyone does, but I definitely have a problem with starring. After this my mood for ring shopping just went away and I had no motivations to look around anymore. I have no motivations to go back and look for a ring either. I know that the whole wedding planning has been extremely stressful and our wedding is 5 days away, but am I overreacting?

I know I should get something off the registry but everything they have is pots or pans. I don't think I should bring a set of pots and pans to a bridal shower. What do you think of me getting a gift card to a place like Victoria Secrets for the groom? I know it's not on the list but it's that what the bridal shower is for. The sexy stuff or honeymoon things?

How many people have done an early wedding and later reception? How did you handle it? Many Catholic churches do not allow weddings later in the day on Saturdays because of afternoon masses. Thanks.

My parents 50th wedding anniversary is in June, any suggestions as to how we can make it extra special? We have already put a deposit down on a hall and their priest reserved the date to renew their vows. I think we should let them in on what we are doing and my siblings think we should make it a "surprise party" but I am afraid that we will forget to invite someone important. Any advice or suggestions are very welcome. Thanks

My best friend just got engaged. Is it necessary to get a gift just to say congratulations? I'm 25 so this is just the beginning I'm sure. I know there will probably be engagement parties, showers, bachelorette parties, bridesmaid gifts, wedding gifts, the list goes on...and I definitely can't afford much. Is a card ok? What's proper engagement etiquitte?

There's a wedding scene in this book I am writing, and I'm not exactly sure how it should go. My husband and I were not married by a priest and so I have no idea what one would say. I've been to weddings before, obviously, but I've got a horrible memory so I don't recall what the priest said. If someone could be so helpful as to tell me what the priest's supposed to say, you know that whole "we are gathered here today" and "Do you take so and so to be your wife" thing, that would be amazing. Thank you so much!

We planned our wedding for October. A friend of mine offered me her wedding dress to use last year. She is bigger girl than me so the dress required alot of alterations to scale it down to my size but it was still cheaper than buying new so I took it and have already paid for alterations. She made it clear she didn't expect the dress back and was happy to get it out of her way.

Anyway, she recently found out she's having a baby girl instead of a boy like they thought and suddenly talks about how her daughter will share her wedding dress. She also found out we plan on doing a "trash session" the day after the wedding. THE DRESS WILL NOT BE RUINED but she is demanding her dress back anyway.

I really don't want to be a ***** and tell her too bad so sad but I also don't want to be walking down naked.

In order not to have lots of little ones on the floor at the same time as the garder and bouquet toss, the bride and groom did what they called a "children's toss" where they had 2 small teddy bears dressed in a tux and wedding gown for the little girls and boys. Any suggestions on songs for this particular kind of toss?

I understand why it's considered tacky to send a thank you note by email, or to even type one up. But I've read that it's considered tacky and impersonal to type the address on envelope, either by running the envelope thru the printer or using an address label.

Do you agree with this? Say you send a gift to a bride and groom, and receive a timely thank you note. Would you be offended if your address was typed on the envelope? I wouldn't be offended in the slightest.

I really dislike addressing envelopes and send all letters with typed envelopes. But if lots of people consider this tacky and offensive, I may need to reconsider...
