My mom and step dad were married april fools day. Mom always joked that she was a fool to marry him, or that it was the biggest joke she knew how to play. But it was all said in fun, and she loved him (he passed away). It would be a fun favor to give out things like whoopy cushions as favors, when the minister or clergy asks if someone opposes speak, then you and your fiance start to raise your hands, then turn to the audience and say april fools. then finsh the ceremony.just have fun with it. Put a court jester on the invites, let people know some kind of April foolery will be going on so they at least have an idea to expect something. Good luck!

If you are planning an April Fool's Day wedding why not take it over the top ! Mr./Mrs. Fool ? Why not on the invites give a time/date and pretend that either the bride/groom doesn't show? Play it out all dramatic and such ! That would be awesome and much more fun than a boring wedding.. Have the "best man" give a "tell all" phony toast about what "really" happened at the bachelor party... For centerpieces do gag photos of the two of you around the world photoshop your heads onto fake bodies of a couple on a cruise or other easy to recognize destination... Works especially well if the bodies are too extreme to be your own.. Or have each table be a different holiday theme. (retirement, graduation, birthday, anniversary, funeral, barmitzva(sp), valentine's day etc..) The centerpiece would follow suit. Then have a greeting card specific to that event under someone's chair to take the centerpiece home as a gift. ! For favors... go with the kid in you and have a "candy bar" Get large containers and fill them with all different flavors of candy.. (jelly beans, gum drops, mints, etc.. and have guests fill small goodie bags to take home ! Just have fun and throw anything serious out the window ! Good luck

I love this idea! Okay, I've got some thoughts for you. Hopefully you can at least get some ideas going--have fun!If your minister is a sport, I'd keep the actual marriage on April 1 and let him make a comment (like about his license) that catches your guests off guard--it might be more convincing, and you could play with it a bit. Personally I'd keep the ceremony rather subdued, but you could have tons of fun with the reception! How about cutting the cake and you accidentally cut off your own or your husband's finger--the knife breaks--you "find" things in the cake (gummy worms? your "wedding ring"? Your cousin's missing finger along with Wendy's legal department contact information and lawsuit filing instructions?) How about fake buck teeth to show off as you beam with pride while exiting the church as the newly married "Mr. and Mrs.?" What if the groom makes a mistake and when the minister says, "You may kiss your bride", he kisses a bridesmaid instead? One of you says the wrong name? Make a dog the best man. If you have candles representing your single lives that you are extinguishing, use relighting candles for the single candles and have trouble lighting the candle representing your new life together. Have a "costume malfunction". Release ravens instead of doves. Throw water balloons instead of rice. Send a note to guests in your invitations that you have a relative coming from the "old country" who expects to see you observe the beautiful tradition of: an armpit salute to the groom's father--who is totally in the dark; or something silly. The groom finds "someone else's" undies in his pants pocket. Between the wedding and the reception someone's garment gets put on backwards (or switched). Get a fart machine and have a blast! For a luncheon reception, serve "fingers" as finger foods. Place fake critters in the serving line. Have a mechanical mouse dash from under the serving table. Get someone who's a good actor play "Bob" and pretend to have silently passed away at his seat--then just play around it. Be overheard telling the caterer not to worry, it was just ONE cockroach. If I stay here long enough I'll come up with all kinds of oddball stuff! Whether it would be appropriate for your wedding is entirely questionable! Hope these help, good luck and have a great time!

This would be a prime opportunity for a Rennaissance Fair wedding! Contact the local high school or community college to see if they have a drama dept., and/or gymnastic team. Hire them for court jesters and magicians and to put on small skits throughout the hall. Use the comedy and tragedy masks for decorations and in your centerpieces.

The idea of April Fools Day goes back to this time period, which is why I would use this type of theme.
