Your best bet is to go with edible favors. Anything you might buy like..cork screws, candles, coasters, etc.... will probably be left behind or thrown away by most people. If you give out cookies or candy they will be appreciated and eaten before or after dinner.

Wedding or table favors only work in two categories . .
something useful or something edible.
Something useful .. candy dish, bud vase, or candlesticks
Something edible . . cookies (preferably homemade)
Wedding guests do not like "cute" or "clever" favors. The world is full of dumspters that are filled with "favorite music CDs" . . wrapped chocolate bars . . homemade candles . . and bookmarkers. These types of gifts are either left on the reception dinner tables or thrown away with the guests get home. Just last week a Bride in Yahoo Answers was complaining that most of her "cute" favors were left on the tables.
Save your money . . time . . and effort. If you want to do something special then donate $10 or $25 or $50 to your favorite charity and then put that infomation in a frame on your gift or guest book table. Your guests will be impressed with your thoughtfulness.

Little wedding tins, filled with mints or M&M's. You can buy tin labels in your wedding colors to put on top with your names and wedding date. Tie a ribbon around it with a little silver dangle heart. You can buy all of the supplies at WalMart.
At most of the weddings I've been to, guests took the favors with food, but left behind the ones that really aren't going to be used.

I went to a Seattle wedding in July and the bride and groom had glass coasters with the word love (with each letter in a square) etched into the glass. They had two wrapped together with ribbon with their wedding colors and a nice printed tag with their name and wedding date on it.
