I got married in France. In France it is only legally binding to get married at the Town hall so we had a ceremony on the 9th in the town hall with only our very close family present and did nothing special afterwards. Then, on the 10th we had a blessing in a church with all the trimmings and all our friends and family.
My husband and i cant decide whether to celebrate our anniversary on the 9th or the 10th. What do you think?

Our wedding is in the park and there are a lot of cafe/deli type places (outdoor things), so are burgers and hot dogs tacky?

We're planning our VERY small and simple ceremony and so we don't have any professional type person to ask. We got our license thing but I didn't see any place to put our new name on it? What do you fill out to have your name officially and legally changed? (If the laws are different from place to place, we live in California...)
Thanks very much!

It starts with the first ring: "How much should he pay for my engagement ring?"

"How can I tell people I want money toward my house/ remodelling/ honeymoon/ other thing as a gift instead of what they want to get me?" (Funny, they never want the money donated to charity)

"How much must/should my mommy & daddy pay for their adult offspring's wedding?"

"How much must/should my fiance's mommy & daddy pay for their adult offspring's wedding?"

"Should I be mad that my/his mommy & daddy aren't contributing to MY wedding?"

"My mommy & daddy are only giving me $8,000 for My Special Day. It's hell planning a wedding on just 8 grand. How do I tell them they have to pay more?"

"I sent my registry info with the invitations and nobody bought from it! How should I deal with these spiteful people?"

"I eloped and didn't get gifts...I want a do-over in church, but my mommy & daddy won't fund it. Is that fair?"

"He only paid $2K for the wedding ring. What should I do?"

We received a few gifts off our registry in the mail. One before the invitations even went out. (This person is a young male who is not attending the shower.) And a few others from relatives who will be at shower. Not sure when shower is. Anyway.... Do I send a thank you note now so as the gift giver knows they were received? Or can I wait till after the shower? But when I thank them early do I say wedding gift? Our wedding is at end of Oct.

I was just watching a couple going down to the beach for their holy union. Do people think that it's more romantic?

I think the sand would be quite a bother...

Would you feel insulted(if thats the word)if he paid..a amount of $300.00 for the ring? Or less then what you thought he should pay.

I need to find a corset/bodyshaper type undergarment to wear at my wedding. I'd like it to be similar to a leotard (no legs on it). I'd prefer nude color, since my gown is ivory and my reception dress is white (and the reception dress is thin enough that white lacy stuff would show through). It needs to have good upward lift and support for the chest (my main reason for getting one) but also slim the pudge in the stomach. And..to throw something else in the mix..my gown has a low back, where the zipper stops is sort of a V shape. So, good chest support, nude color, strapless, and as low of a back as possible. Any good websites to look at? I will go to some local stores this week and look as well. I am normally about a 36C size but I've been told for a corset, a 38B might work better since I have a stomach on me and just need more lift in the chest. Thanks for your help!

I got married last week and I made my own wedding cake (22 yrs experience) so it wasnt rubbish either, anyway I delivered it to the resteraunt 3 days before the meal was booked. I left instructions of how it was to be kept, & reassured everything was fine, carried on with the preperations. On the day everyone duly arrived but there was no cake to be seen. Towards the end of the meal with no sign still of the cake & some guests preparing to leave we asked for the cake to be brought out. After about 15mins a waitress brought out something that only vaguely resembled my cake. It had been left in a fridge covered with foil for 3 days, the condensation had destroyed the icing. The resteraunt promptly scrapped the bill for the meal and are now offering us a variety of options such as: returning all guests for another meal, buying us a replacement cake or another option of our choosing. Im struggling to look at this objectively given the embarrassment, no photos etc... Anyone got any ideas!!

I don't agree with bancrupcy at all. I would rather him work on paying his debts little by little. I think overall it will look a lot better that he's putting the effort into paying his debts rather than just eliminating them. Your feedback would be helpful to both of us. Thanks

My finace and I are planning our wedding and between us we have 8 kids (Me 3 including my niece and him 5). We will be going on a three week honey moon after the wedding and we are deciding who should watch the kids while we go away. My mom (whom lives across the country) would be willing to watch the kids at our new house in LA and so would my fiance's mom that lives in town. The thing is, my mom LOVES to baby kids and I don't want my soon-to-be-step-kids or my 20 month old, that I recently adopted and my mom never met to get the wrong impression and my soon-to-be-MIL is not. She lets them have freedom up to a fair extent and has rules, but not too strict. My fiance and I are leaning toards his mom. Is this wrong and how can I explain it to my mom? Any advice will help. My mom is not really paying for the wedding (just my Dad's tux to walk me down the asile.)and my soon-to-be-MIL is helping us pay for most of it.

My friend asked me to be in her bridal party. We currently live 12 hours from each other. I am pregnant and will have a 3 month old the time of her wedding. She is expecting me to attend her bridal shower in June and to be in town a few days early for the rehearsal dinner! I am feeling stressed out because this will be my first child and I am also expected to fulfill my duties as a bridsmaid! Also, the house we are getting dressed at is 45 minutes from the church, and the church is 1 hour from the reception hall!!! Does this sound weird to you? This means a full day away from my new baby. I am really not to thrilled about this, and all the driving involved. It seems like a lot of wasted time. And I don't think many people are going to the church. I told her that my husband will have to watch the baby until the reception and will just meet me there. Then she suggested that we stay at the hotel nearby and I reminded her that I will have a 3 month old baby to get home to! Need Opinions!

I know people can be engaged as long as they want or feel they should or need to be but how long would you consider too long??

My bf is not ready to be married and too be honest i doubt i am either yet i constantly want to ask him to marry me because i love him so much, i know he hasnt asked me because hes not ready to get married and we have discussed it and he said to me that he has no problem being engaged and that we could get engaged right now just not married.

I only want to get engaged when hes ready to marry me so dont worry im not getting engaged it just made me think how long is too long and does anyone know the average length of time most couples get engaged for??

Thanks

P.S which finger does the engagement ring go on? that has confused me ever since i learnt about marriage.

If I am enclosing an RSVP card in my invitation, should I also mention on the invitation to RSVP by a certain date, or just let the RSVP card speak for itself?
