I'm just repeating what everyone else has already said. You don't have to do anything! There's no law that you HAVE to change your name so unless and until you take the steps to change it, it'll stay.

(I don't want to change my last name when I get married and this is quite common.)

I have done the same thing. Do don't need to do anything really. Once you decide to take your husbands name just take a copy of your marriage license to the social security office and change your name on your social security card and then go to dmv to change your drivers license. I chose not to change my name for now because I am a notary public and it is a pain to refile a new application and have everything changed on my seal. When my commission expired I will change my name to my husbands. Good luck

If you want to keep your last name after you marry, you don't need to do anything. When you get your marriage license, you list you name as your own name.

yes. Don't take your new info to the SS office or DMV. Then, as far as the state and country are concerned, your last name is still in place.

Nothing happends to your last name unless YOU go about the legal actions to change it.

you don't legally change your name until you file for the change.. So don't do it until later, your marriage license is still valid...

yes, just dont go to social security and change it. They will change it when you take them your wedding certificate, but it will be public record for everyone to see your married, so dont hide it for too long.
