I got married in France. In France it is only legally binding to get married at the Town hall so we had a ceremony on the 9th in the town hall with only our very close family present and did nothing special afterwards. Then, on the 10th we had a blessing in a church with all the trimmings and all our friends and family.
My husband and i cant decide whether to celebrate our anniversary on the 9th or the 10th. What do you think?

It sounds like the 9th was the date that you legally got married so that would be your wedding anniversary.

You might consider this answer trite, but why not celebrate on both days? Or one the day out of the two that is the most convenient during any given year...?

I mean, if it were up to me and I had to pick just one day, I would probably pick the 9th just because I am a stickler for details....but it is not unreasonable to celebrate on the day that is the most meaningful to you....if your wedding was the most meaningful and memorable, then I would go with that one...

In the end, an anniversary should just be a day or moment when you reflect on the last year you spent as a married couple...and that can really fall on any day you want!

I would say the 9th because this is the day you legally got married and the 10th is the day you shared your happiness with everyone you cared about. So the 9th is the day you should celebrate as your anniversary.

You were legally married on the 9th. Even if you never had the church service you would still have to get a divorce if you didn't want to be married anymore. Therefore your wedding anniversary is on the 9th. However, if it was me, I would celebrate both.

Judging by the way you handled your wedding on the ninth and tenth back when you exchanged vows it seems you didn't really hallow the ninth. All of the trimmings and family/friends and celebration took place on the tenth, I would think you'd celebrate the tenth-- Celebrate the day that meant the most to you. You were recognized by everyone you love to be a family on the tenth and the memories with all of them took place then as well- But why not celebrate both days and make an event out of the affair after all why use one day when you can have two!

The 9th was the day you actually made the commitment to each other the 10th was merely to celebrate the fact with relatives. So I'd go for the 9th.

The 10th seems more appropriate to me. Its the one you will remember in terms of fun and excitement. The 9th was just the legal stuff.
stick with the 10th, or better yet have 2 and then hubby has to get extra creative every year!

best of luck

The date you became legally married was the 9th therefore that is your anniversary date.

I would say you celebrate both! Celebrate both days, and every day that you are together and happy. Don't wait for a number to tell you that you should enjoy being together. Every day is an anniversary! Enjoy.

Isn't it obvious? You should book into a nice hotel on the 9th and celebrate through the night...
Enjoy
